A drunk driver who killed a father and son was masturbating at the wheel moments before the crash.

Imran Hussain was twice over the legal alcohol limit and driving at speeds up to 120mph when he ploughed into Gary, Catherine and James Proctor as they headed off on the holiday of a lifetime.

Gary, 47, and son James, 16, were killed and mum Catherine, 46, received serious injuries in the collision on the M62.

Car dealer and father-of-four Hussain tried to run from his Audi Q7 4x4 after the crash - when other motorists caught up with him, his private parts were still exposed.

Sentencing him to eight years in prison, Judge Andrew Blake told him: "At the least it must have been a symptom you were not giving your full attention to driving."

After rowing with his wife, 32-year-old Hussain met friends and drank Southern Comfort, before downing more alcohol at a lap-dancing club in Leeds.

CCTV cameras at a service station captured him "staggering and clearly drunk" just after 5am, the cashier told the court.

Hussain, from Bradford, West Yorkshire, rowed with the cashier over a packet of crisps before threatening to kill him, prompting the staffer to take down the numberplate and call police.

When officers examined Hussain's mobile phone they saw he had tried calling a nearby escort agency but had found it closed.

The speeding car collided with the Proctors' Fiat Punto on August 3. The family, from Wakefield, West Yorkshire, were driving to Manchester airport to catch flights to Florida.

Devastated mother Catherine, who suffered arm and shoulder injuries, has found life since the crash a "nightmare".

She said: "James was my only child and loved life. He was a kind, thoughtful young man and loved and lived life to the full. continues here
