HOME Office ministers faced fresh fury over soft-touch border controls last night after new figures showed more than 150,000 immigrants are expected to pass the Government’s controversial citizenship test this year.


Statistics showed a total of 115,807 newcomers had already successfully completed the “Life in the UK” test in the first nine months of this year.

The figures ignited fresh concerns that the test – the final step before being granted British citizenship or indefinite leave to remain in the UK – is far too easy.

Shadow Immigration Minister Damian Green said: “Ministers want to talk tough on immigration these days but in the real world nothing is changing.

“This Government has let an unprecedented number of people obtain citizenship.” continues here
