THE European ban on 100-watt light bulbs starts today but father-of-five Glynn Hughes is not panic-buying.
The environmental consultant has stockpiled 100 which he reckons will last him for at least 15 years.
By that time, he says, experts will accept that Compact Fluorescent Lamps, which use 80 per cent less electricity, are not good for our health.
He says they take too long to warm up, give poor light and are ugly. They also contain mercury, making them a health hazard and hard to discard safely.
Campaigners also say the new bulbs trigger migraines, worsen skin problems, cause fatigue, disturbed sleep and depression.
Mr Hughes, 50, from Preston, Lancs, said: “Many people who started using these bulbs have had a range of unexplained symptoms. It is also a matter of human rights. We are entitled to choose.” continues here
