Antiracists and far-right youths battle in Moscow

MOSCOW — A simmering confrontation between far-right youths and ant-racist activists has erupted into Moscow's streets after the fatal shooting of an anti-racist activist known as the Bonebreaker.

The violence stems from deep animus between two aggressive camps with starkly different visions of Russia's future — neo-Nazi skinheads who rank in the tens of thousands and militant anti-racist groups that call themselves Antifa, short for anti-fascist.

Former punk rocker Ivan Khutorskoi, 26, provided security for meetings of antifascists. He also was known for organizing underground bare-knuckle boxing matches among them, and taking part in violent attacks on ultranationalists.

Khutorskoi was gunned down in his apartment building on the city's outskirts Monday night. A day later, dozens of masked men pelted the headquarters of the pro-Kremlin youth group Young Russia with stones, trash and steel rods, Young Russia's leader said.

Kremlin critics say Russia's leadership created Young Russia and similar youth organizations to keep its political opponents in check and provide support, and sometimes muscle, on the streets. Anti-racist groups claim they have close ties with the ultranationalists they call fascists or Nazis.

Nobody was hurt in the attack late Tuesday on the office of Young Russia. But its message, delivered first with projectiles and then over the Internet, seemed clear.

"If no one but us tries to stop Nazis and those who provide cover for them, we will act by all means necessary," blogger Anarcho Punk wrote Wednesday. Other anti-racist bloggers said the attack was retaliation for what they claimed were the group's links to Russian neo-Nazis. They "dedicated" the assault to their leader, Khutorskoi — an outsized figure and a role model among antifascists, who say he had survived three previous assassination attempts. He was shot twice in the back of the head near the door to his apartment on Moscow's eastern outskirts, police said.

Khutorskoi sometimes provided security at press conferences of Stanislav Markelov, a human rights lawyer hated by ultranationalists — but not at the one last January after which Markelov and a journalist were fatally shot on the street.

Antifa groups have been rapidly adding to their ranks in Russia in recent years, said Galina Kozhevnikova, the director of Sova, a respected independent hate-crime watchdog monitoring group. She said their ideology attracts leftist-minded youth and people concerned about persistent hate crimes and xenophobia in today's Russia.

"The army of ultranationalists is definitely bigger, as the movement is much older," Kozhevnikova said.

Pro-Kremlin youth groups like Young Russia are also a significant force. Experts believe their emergence was a Kremlin response to the 2004 Orange Revolution in Ukraine, where youth groups played a key role in street protests that ushered a pro-Western presidential candidate to power.

Young Russia is known for street rallies and pranks against anti-Kremlin politicians. The group has also been involved in attacks on anti-government protesters and opposition youth activists.

Young Russia's leader, Maxim Mishchenko, said about 80 masked men attacked the office in central Moscow. A 22-year old attacker was seized by Young Russia activists and handed over to police, he said.

Anti-fascist bloggers claimed Mishchenko, a Russian parliament member with Prime Minister Vladimir Putin's United Russia party, has close ties with Russky Obraz, a radical ultranationalist group that antiracists claim was behind Khutorskoi's killing.

Scotland Yard secretly reopened an inquiry into the death of Blair Peach two decades after its officers were widely believed to have killed the anti-fascist campaigner in one of the darkest incidents in the Metropolitan police force's history.

Relatives of Peach, the 33-year-old teacher from New Zealand whose skull was crushed at a demonstration against the far right in Southall in 1979, said tonight they had no idea the file into his death was "reviewed" in the late 1990s.

No officers were ever charged in connection with the death, although Commander John Cass, who investigated the case as the head of the Met's complaints bureau, was believed to have produced a report that identified several officers as possible suspects in the killing and accused others of thwarting his inquiries.

The Met has said it will release the Cass report before the end of the year, bringing to an end a 30-year-old mystery. However, the Guardian has established that a second Met commander in charge of the force's complaints bureau, Ian Quinn, reopened the Peach file around 10 years ago for a "review". As a result, he too produced a report on the death in 1999.

In a statement tonight, the Met confirmed that Quinn "carried out a review in 1999 of the case relating to the death of Blair Peach. A report was written following the review," it said, adding that the decision to reopen the file was taken "following correspondence with various parties, including those representing the family of Blair Peach, around the 20th anniversary of his death".

However, the existence of Quinn's report has shocked family and friends of Peach, who have campaigned for more than three decades for full disclosure of all documents relating to his death, and dispute the suggestion that they knew about the review. "I would certainly have expected to have been told that there was a review of the case," said Peach's brother, Philip. "But I was not. It's quite bizarre. The Met have kept this completely secret."

Peach's partner of 10 years, Celia Stubbs, said she too was shocked to learn that the Met had quietly revisited the case at the end of the 1990s.

"The question is, why?" she said. "The fact that a commander believed it necessary to look again at Blair's death begs the question, was there more evidence that we did not know about? This means a new layer of confusion and adds to the case for full and open disclosure of everything kept by the Met on Blair's death."

The death of Peach on 23 April 1979 came when Metropolitan police officers were accused of lashing out at protesters opposed to attempts by the National Front to hold a meeting at the heart of the largely Sikh community in Southall, west London.

Forensic pathologists said Peach's head injuries were unlikely to have been caused by a baton, but rather appeared to have been the result of a blow from an unauthorised weapon such as a lead-weighted rubber cosh, a hosepipe filled with lead shot, or possibly a police radio.

In the months after his death the spotlight fell on the Special Patrol Group (SPG), an elite group of officers trained to deal with riots. When Cass raided SPG headquarters, he uncovered a stash of weapons including a metal cosh – but not the weapon that killed Peach.

In June this year an investigation by the Guardian established disturbing parallels between the death of Peach and that of Ian Tomlinson, who died at the G20 protests in April, almost exactly 30 years later. Tomlinson, a 47-year-old newspaper vendor, died shortly after being attacked by an officer from the Territorial Support Group (TSG), the successor unit to the SPG.

Cass, now 84, was traced to his home in Wales, where he said he was not opposed to disclosure of the document. The Peach case was brought up at the Metropolitan Police Authority, the force's watchdog, where the commissioner, Sir Paul Stephenson, said he would seek legal advice to establish how the report could be released before the end of this year. continues here

The brothers with bumper pay deals: As bosses' pay is criticised, union leaders cash in

The leaders of some of Britain's biggest unions saw their pay and perks rocket by up to 30 per cent last year, despite the impact of the recession on their members.

Official figures reveal that some union barons have fared far better in the downturn than the 'fat cat' company directors they criticise, whose pay rose an average 10 per cent last year. Many union chiefs are earning six-figure pay packages.

Left-wing firebrand Tony Woodley, joint general secretary of the super-union Unite, was paid £122,108 in salary and benefits.

His pay package represents a 30 per cent increase on the previous year, when he was paid £93,407 in salary and benefits, which include a grace-and-favour flat in London.

Mr Woodley, former head of the Transport and General Workers Union (TGWU), is a persistent critic of high executive pay.

His fellow joint general secretary at Unite, Derek Simpson, has also seen a generous increase in his income following the merger of the Amicus and TGWU unions to create Unite two years ago.

Mr Simpson, a former communist, was paid £97,027 last year, along with benefits worth a further £89,599, giving him a total package worth £186,626.

His pay package is up 20 per cent on the previous year when he was paid a total of £155,464 as head of Amicus.

Mr Simpson is another long-time critic of boardroom remuneration, recently saying: 'City executives' pay and bonuses would make Midas blush.'

The leaders' pay packages are in contrast to those of Unite's 1.8million members, who are mostly in low-paid jobs.

Yesterday Mr Simpson led calls from union chiefs for the middle classes to be forced to pay higher taxes to keep public sector workers in their jobs.

Speaking at the TUC's annual conference in Liverpool, Mr Simpson said: 'Over the years, working families have funded tax concessions for big business and the super-rich. Now it's payback time.'

A survey yesterday showed the average pay of directors of FTSE 100 companies had risen by 10 per cent last year, prompting anger among TUC delegates.

Brendan Barber, general secretary of the TUC, said: 'Bumper bonuses are an obscene joke when it was our money that rescued the banks, and it is our public services that are now being told they will have to face the consequences.'

But official union returns reveal that Mr Barber is one of a string of union barons who have fared well during the years of Labour plenty.

Last year he received a pay and benefits package worth £113,109, a rise of 31 per cent over five years. continues here

Guardian rejects anti-semitism accusation

A new website was launched this week with the aim of monitoring antisemitism on the Guardian newspaper’s Comment is Free blog.

CiF Watch will function primarily as a blog which discusses content on Comment is Free that it considers to be anti-Jewish.

The anonymous founder of the New York-based site, who insisted on only being known by the pseudonym “Hawkeye”, said the site aimed “to challenge the mainstream In the Guardian’s eyes it is perfectly fine to give a platform to numerous contributors to CiF that support the dissolution of Israel as a Jewish state and its replacement with a bi-national state.
“To engage in such discourse is antisemitic under the EU monitoring committee working definition of antisemitism, because it denies the Jewish people the right to self-determination. orthodoxy of the extreme left that the Jewish state is a racist endeavour — which is a recurrent theme in Comment is Free”.

He added: “Besides the fact that CiF features a long list of anti-Zionists, including many Jewish anti-Zionists, its comment threads are full of vile, antisemitic statements. If you ever comment on one of those threads as a pro-Israel supporter, a lot of the time your comments get deleted.”

It was, he said, “a mistake to assume that CiF is a UK website. Its reach is international in nature and it has been the recipient of numerous web awards, ahead of the likes of New York Times online. Moreover, many contributors hail from countries abroad.”

“Hawkeye” complained: “The problem is that there are no boundaries to the commentary made about Israel. In the Guardian’s eyes it is perfectly fine to give a platform to numerous contributors to CiF that support the dissolution of Israel as a Jewish state and its replacement with a bi-national state.

“To engage in such discourse is antisemitic under the EU monitoring committee working definition of antisemitism, because it denies the Jewish people the right to self-determination. What is most troubling is that it is this kind of discourse that is being normalised in the British press, and when one points this out, one gets accused of shutting down open debate when we’re doing nothing of the sort.”

A spokesman for the Guardian rejected claims of antisemitism on the site. He said: “Comment is Free has always carried a wide range of different opinions on the Israel/Palestine conflict. We reject completely the charge of antisemitism.

“We therefore welcome CiF Watch’s support for open and honest debate about the conflict and its acknowledgment that this can include criticism of Israel’s policies.

“While we aim to allow as free an expression of views as possible, we do not tolerate any hate speech, and our moderators will delete comments which are antisemitic or Islamophobic or otherwise racist, as soon as they are reported to us or when we see them ourselves.” continues here

And there you have it of course, the charge of anti-Semitism, the ridiculous accusation that, should one criticize Israel that one by extension hates all Jews, utter poppycock, Israel is a state that was created deceitfully, that since its very inception has committed gross human rights violations, dispossessed and discriminated against a people and created much contemporary turmoil. A two state or even a bi-national state presents as loss to the Palestinians, yet it is all they can ever hope for, Israel is a nuclear armed country, possessing, in this instance, real weapons of mass destruction, how it came to be that it came to possess such weaponry, is yet again a case of deceit, betrayal and deception.

As a nationalist I hate no people, certainly I wish non-alien intervention within Europe, yet I would be a hypocrite of some magnitude, were I to advocate self-autonomy for my people and yet support a rogue state that denies such to others. Some may argue that in this regard I deny autonomy to Jewry, that by supporting the dispossessed Palestinian peoples, I at a stroke thwart any concept of a Jewish nation, this is of course wholly wrong, I merely advocate dialogue, discussion not deception, murder and conquest.

Jewry would have it that it has been a wandering “tribe” for some time, that it has by dint of circumstance been forced to wander the world, ever assailed by anti-Semites, yet much of what passes for Jewry today is not by definition Semitic, yet Ashkenazi Jews display appalling levels of discrimination towards their Sephardic brethren, it is of course even the case that origin and practice matter little over appearance and tradition, Sephardi covering many bases, of course gentiles, we, have little inclination to enter such muddy waters ,requiring only our freedom, so to further confuse this article with reference to Mizrahim, Musta'arabim or indeed many other of the group classifications within Jewry would be pointless.

It is enough here to state that prior to the creation of Israel Jews and Arabs lived in peace, today of course the problems of the east now visit our lands, our people are pawns in a game and their blood is split collaterally. Jewry is by definition not of Europe, yet this does not mean that gentiles wish it harm, desire conflict and bloodshed, far from it, nationalism recognises and indeed cherishes difference, it fights against the false orthodoxy of egalitarianism, lays into those that would promote a mono-culture and recognises the need for all to have both a home and a culture.

Yet European nationalism has been infiltrated, assailed, until nationalism itself has been changed and the few who speak out against it are considered foolish, of another age, whilst the agenda of Zionism presses on. True nationalism, will never recognise foreign influence, will never kneel to the alien, yet it will never hate for hatreds sake, Muslims have the right to exist, as indeed does the Jew, because in this fight against supranational government all races and creeds face attack. For some sixty years Zionism has shaped the world, although its influence reaches far back in time, yet it is here today that it wields power, it would seem that all governments kneel in servitude as Christendom is no more, today Islam is promoted, promoted to cause disquiet ,to augment enmity and to usher in conflict and hate. After all, once conflict breaks out will not the people beg for peace, call out for help and will not the forces of the state give it them, craft laws to save them, deny freedoms for the greater good, will not the state cradle us in its arms as we suckle upon poisoned milk.

Nationalism has the answer to enmity, the solution to problem, at its core respect, respect for all cultures and creeds, Zionism seeks global obedience, it believes that Jewry is above all, that all others must kneel to it, that it is written, that Israel shall govern the world. Some elements of Christianity believe this to, believe that the messiah can only return as chaos reigns and evil swirls and good returns to us first in that evil place, even Islam believes such, believes that the last battle, the ultimate fight between good and evil, can and must only occur in that land.

It is for this reason that Christians support Zionism, that fundamental Christianity rocks the states, that neo-conservatism, read Zionism, spans that land and the superpower is harnessed in evils name. Such rubbish, such nonsense, it is as if god requires man to err, as if god wishes blood split and man to make war with another, yet this god that they speak of, is he not benevolent one minute and almost evil the next, does not old and new testament vie for primacy, whilst the world spins in an orbit of hate. You see it is forever the goal, forever the cause, control the fate of all men, rule the world and all upon it, by force or fiction, it is nationalism that opposes that, nationalism that recognises difference and it is nationalism that is hated, undermined and lied about.

So many groups vie for supremacy when all should live in peace, true peace cannot and has not ever occurred in a multi-racial multi-group state, difference always provokes conflict, yet difference is only different in another place, in the east Muslims do not live their lives offended by western values, although the mass media and global communication is another story, no they live within their own culture amongst their fellows and who are we to oppose such. Yet here in the west their very creed provokes anger, their traditions and very strangeness jolt our sensibilities and the crafters make us rush to war, negroes, in their lands of origin face no discrimination, no bar to progression, only that which mother nature makes herself. Here, here in the west the common man would have little cause to hate, little reason to oppose should we be permitted to live amongst our own, instead of forced to live amongst others, creeds and peoples that threaten our very existence.

Instead this forced habitat, this forced realm, this kingdom of disunity is thrust upon us and we must make do, because they tell us we must, should I oppose it then I am, they say, a hater, a racist and much worse, yet if they had not chosen to change the world, to force difference to live together, if my race did not face extinction and my children a quite terrible world then I would have little reason to maintain this site, to lament my and mines fate and to oppose and oppose again evils cause. I will never succumb to Zionism, to multiculturalism, to evil, never stand by as cultures are denigrated and destroyed, as people of all races are forced to change to suit an appalling agenda, as my children’s very future is placed into the hands of madmen and fools, as they sneer at our plight and carry on regardless.

Yet I know full well that the fight is being lost, that nationalism has been terribly altered, that all organs of the current orthodoxy portray us wrong, they have taken away racialism, replaced it with the guttural racist, presented recognition of difference and indeed celebration of such as a hatred of the other, when this is a lie. If we continue to follow the course they set, continue down this terrible road, then it is not just we that shall suffer, not just the white-man, for we will be out of it, extinguished, gone, yet others shall succumb, even today terrible forces create carnage in the east and such will simply continue and no white hand shall stop it. Without whites slavery would still be openly practiced, instead of hidden away and marginalised as it is today, millions would die of hunger or disease and war would ravage the world, without whites innovation would recede, freedoms be lost and the world would be a much darker place, no pun intended.

Might would take precedence and the wishes of the few would be swept away in their blood, finances grip would be even tighter, exploitation immense and liberty a dream, for all our wrongs we have many rights, yet we are judged in a biased court, perhaps our loss to this world will be a punishment to those upon it. There is this great rush towards this new order, a step once taken that can never be undone, yet history tells us that difference can only be forced to live together under repressions wing. Can none see, do none have eyes, ears or sense, if difference must be forced to co-exist in a country, if millions must fall to achieve it then what then for a world, for a planet, for all peoples of all practices, how many must die, who must live and who must perish.

Is it wrong that I am a white nationalist that I am forced to be a white nationalist, that as a people we are so threatened, that decent men and women must rail against a corrupt and malevolent system, that in doing so we are tagged as haters, as evil-doers, as evil incarnate. Yet whilst the body-politic, the masses sway to such a hypnotic beat, as millions sit mesmerised in front of that little box, as young men die in the lands of their fathers, due to race and creed, as young women suffer rape, as drugs and crime cut swathes through our population, as evil truly stalks a people, it is its opposers that are wrong.

There is so much against nationalism and therefore by extension the people, Zionist influence is most apparent within contemporary nationalism, many spew forth pro-Israel rhetoric, trained to hate Islam above all. Tory populism has taken the reigns and races us towards defeat, yet few can see, all suffer, Jew ,gentile, men of the crescent and men of the cross, black, white, young and old, give us back our world, let us live again in peace, take your malevolent agenda and move it from the physical world of men, to again a world of hypothesise and written conjecture, do not force such upon an unwilling world.

BNP festival 'rallying point for neo-Nazis'

The first day of a controversial BNP festival was today greeted by an open letter condemning the event from anti-fascist groups, union leaders and former London mayor Ken Livingstone.

The letter, put together by campaign group Unite Against Fascism, said the Red, White and Blue Festival in Derbyshire would be a "rallying point for neo-Nazis and racists from across Europe".

The three-day festival is taking place in Codnor until Sunday.

Last year's event sparked violent scenes from anti-BNP protesters, with around 30 arrested.

A high-profile policing operation has been put in place by Derbyshire Police for this year's rally amid fears of more clashes.

Unite Against Fascism (UAF) plans to "kettle" the rally tomorrow, with supporters coming from across the country to take part in an organised march.

Today UAF published an open letter on its website condemning the event.

Signatories include former London mayor Ken Livingstone, children's author Michael Rosen, trade union leaders and the secretary general of the Muslim Council of Britain.

The letter said the BNP's claims that the event is a "patriotic family festival" were untrue and claimed last year's guests included a Czech neo-Nazi and a Swedish fascist.

It said: "The purpose of the BNP's event is to build up a hardened neo-Nazi core at the centre of the organisation.

"We are already witnessing a spate of racist attacks in areas of high BNP activity.

"The BNP's 'Red, White & Blue' will only encourage more bigotry and violence on our streets.

"We condemn the BNP and its festival of race hate, and we urge people to reject this party's poisonous and anti-democratic agenda."

Derbyshire Constabulary has organised a "significant policing operation" for the festival and has invoked the Public Order Act to impose a number of conditions on the protest, running from 9am today until 4pm on Sunday.

The conditions stipulate areas and times of protest as well as road closures.

Acting Assistant Chief Constable Steve Cotterill said: "Our main aim for this weekend is that it passes off peacefully and any disruption is kept to a minimum.

"We are expecting a lot of people to come to this part of Derbyshire both to attend the Red, White and Blue event and also to protest against it.

"We are very mindful of the impact that such large numbers of people coming into a relatively small area can have on the local community and we have been working closely with Amber Valley Borough Council, residents and all the interested parties.

"The people attending Red, White and Blue have a right to do so in peace and safety but we also realise that people have the right to protest in a lawful and peaceful way. Local people also have the right to be able to go about their lives as normal." continues here

They have tried everything to destroy this festival, yet the BNP have still, through it all, gone ahead, we now of course have a situation, whereby members of a legal political party can be threatened harassed and lied about, moreover, many of those attending are women and children and it would seem that those that wish to “kettle”, (a ridiculous word) do not care. I would say that it is hard to take over a country or build the next generation of concentration camps, whilst helping your children with their face-painting. Hard to conquer the world, whilst picnicking with those you love, can you not leave them alone, can you not, even for a while, let families enjoy time together, whites enjoy time together or are you so low, as to persistently attack, lie and disparage.

Sotomayor approved by US Senate

The US Senate has voted to approve Sonia Sotomayor's nomination to the US Supreme Court.

Ms Sotomayor, 55, will become the first Hispanic justice and only the third woman to sit on the court.

The Senate voted 68-31 to approve Ms Sotomayor, with 59 Democrats and nine Republicans voting in favour.

The Supreme Court is the highest court in the US, with the power to strike down unconstitutional laws. Once appointed, justices serve for life.

They are nominated by the president, but must receive approval from a majority of senators before they can take up their post.

'Inspiring' story

Mr Obama hailed the Senate vote as "historic".

"The Senate has affirmed that Justice Sotomayor has the intellect, the temperament, the history, the integrity and the independence of mind to ably serve on our nation's highest court," he added.

"This is a wonderful day for Judge Sotomayor and her family, but I also think it's a wonderful day for America."

With his fellow Democrats holding a majority in the Senate, Mr Obama was not expected to face any difficulties getting his nominee confirmed.

In advance of the Senate vote, a number of moderate Republicans indicated that they would also be backing her, making her confirmation even more likely.

Ms Sotomayor's supporters say she has a reliable record - and they cite her "inspiring" life story.

She was born to poor Puerto Rican parents on a New York public housing project, rising to become a respected judicial scholar and judge.

But some Republicans claim Ms Sotomayer's record of speeches - and some rulings - shows she allows her opinion to affect her decisions.

During her confirmation hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee, she was asked repeatedly about a speech in which she had remarked that "a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would, more often than not, reach a better conclusion" than a white male judge.

Critics said the remark could have been perceived as racist, but Ms Sotomayor maintained the comments had been an attempted "play on words" that "fell flat".

Ms Sotomayor has also been criticised by conservatives for her dismissal of a discrimination lawsuit brought by white firefighters in Connecticut. continues here

Barack Obama Joker socialism poster denounced as racist

A poster depicting President Barack Obama as Heath Ledger's "Joker" character from "The Dark Knight" has sparked controversy after it appeared on the streets of Los Angeles.continues here



The poster shows the US president with white face paint, dark eye shadow and smudged red lipstick above the caption "socialism", in an apparent attack on the US president's efforts to reform health care and stimulus spending.

It is unknown who created and distributed the image, which some believe has racial overtones because it shows Mr Obama as a black-and-white minstrel in reverse.

Earl Ofari Hutchinson, president of the Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable, denounced the image and called on those behind it to reveal themselves. "It is mean-spirited and dangerous.

A stark visual contrast to Shepard Fairey's popular red, white and blue image of the president-elect featuring the caption "hope", the "socialism" image has appeared as Mr Obama is facing a growing swell of criticism as he attempts to force through his $1 trillion health care programme.

The "socialism" poster has spread virally across the internet, crashing the website that first displayed images of it and rising to the top of Google's "Today's Hot Trends" list. Paper versions also appear to be spreading, with some showing up in Atlanta, Georgia.

Some Right-wing commentators have seized approvingly on the image. Thomas Lifson wrote on the conservative American Thinker website: "It is starting. Open mockery of Barack Obama, as disillusionment sets in with the man, his policies, and the phony image of a race-healing, brilliant, scholarly, middle-of-the-roader."

Now I have a lot of issues with the election of Mr Obama, primarily I note the tremendous push given his campaign, by the owned media, leftists, liberals and yes, non-white communities, you see groups vote on the basis of self-interest and generally with regard to non-white minorities, this is governed by race. Of course, should no non-white candidate be standing, then the community will vote for the candidate that must advocates their cause, Mr Obama received 96 percent of the black vote and a believed 67 percent of the Hispanic vote. It is perhaps for this reason he endorsed the appointment of Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court, giving no consideration to her rather dubious political past.

The election of Mr Obama was a racial event, quite simply he was propelled into office atop a wave of demographic change, leftist agitation and liberal guilt, yet one must always realise that individuals are defined by group, one can see this with the dropping of the charges against the New Black Panther Party members, individuals charged with voter intimidation in Philadelphia during November's elections, this blatant case of voter intimidation appears to be unworthy of consideration even though one individual wielded a baton ,although should Klan members endeavour to do the same, one can envisage really quite a different outcome indeed. We also see this with his appointment of Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court, prompting Sen. Mitch McConnell to remark, “Judge Sotomayor is a fine person with an impressive story and a distinguished background. But a judge must be able to check his or her personal or political agenda at the courtroom door and do justice even-handedly, as the judicial oath requires. This is the most fundamental test. It’s a test Judge Sotomayor does not pass.”

Sonia Sotomayor has always supported her own group interest or that of non-whites, even from right back in her university days at Princeton, during her time at university she joined Acción Puertorriqueña, a group that lobbies for the rights of illegal immigrants, she also joined Third World Centre, a group that advocated for and championed the rights of people of colour. Hate racism festival extravaganza set for a Bolton park

A LOVE Music Hate whites and white culture Racism Festival is to be staged in Bolton in a bid to halt the rise of the British National Party (BNP).

Plans are under way to Interfere with the political process and to deny the people a voice, unless we agree with their choice hold the musical extravaganza in a park next April, ahead of a possible general election, with the aim of uniting non-whites, the brainwashed and the delusional people against the BNP before election fever hits the town.

The idea of the festival has won the backing of the Bolton-branch of the National Union of Teachers (NUT) and Unison as well as other Bolton-based groups and individuals who all seek the destruction or alteration of this nation.

Secretary of the Bolton-branch of the NUT, Barry Conway said: “This is a tremendous initiative taken by a motley collective of leftists and fools people on the ground who are disgusted by the people’s decision the resurgence of rational Nazi politics in society.

“The mere existence of the BNP is a threat to all of us who hate the west, its values, its traditions and its people everyone who cherishes a constructive approach to the problems we face without resorting to hatred, bullying, intimidation and despair.”

He added: “The key battle ground is the youth. Either we brainwash them tap into their positive energy, excitement and imagination, or we force them with draconian legislation and intimidation leave them to the narrow-minded bullies to stifle horizons and turn them into ethnic-cleansing thugs.”

Pupils told: Sex every day keeps the GP away

A National Health Service leaflet is advising school pupils that they have a “right” to an enjoyable sex life and that regular intercourse can be good for their cardiovascular health.

The advice appears in guidance circulated to parents, teachers and youth workers, and is intended to update sex education by telling pupils about the benefits of they have as much right as an adult to a good sex life.sexual pleasure. For too long, say its authors, experts have concentrated on the need for “safe sex” and loving relationships while ignoring the main reason that many people have sex, that is, for enjoyment.

The document, called Pleasure, has been drawn up by NHS Sheffield, although it is also being circulated outside the city.

Alongside the slogan “an orgasm a day keeps the doctor away”, it says: “Health promotion experts advocate five portions of fruit and veg a day and 30 minutes’ physical activity three times a week. What about sex or masturbation twice a week?”

Steve Slack, director of the Centre for HIV and Sexual Health at NHS Sheffield, who is one of the authors, argues that, far from promoting teenage sex, it could encourage young people to delay losing their virginity until they are sure they will enjoy the experience. continues here

Our streets are no longer safe as predators roam and paedophilia is seemingly at epic proportions, divorce skyrockets and marriage is unfashionable, in comparison to earlier times we are a failed society, are we not.

A return to morality

Nationalism urges a return to morality, it seeks to once again create boundaries, of primary importance is the protection of women and children, for this reason any nationalist government will seek to make the streets safe as a first priority, further children will simply enjoy being children and no promotion of a sexual livestyle will occur be it heterosexual or indeed homosexual, on the matter of homosexuality, which is a bugbear for the nationalist movement. Homosexuality should never under any circumstance be promoted, adults have the perfect right to personal privacy within their own homes and there have always been homosexuals, this does not mean that we should sanction it, equalise it or promote it.

RIOT POLICE STOP ANARCHIST ASSAULT ON BRITAIN'S BORDERS

NEARLY 50 protesters were arrested in Calais as they tried to help hundreds of illegal migrants walk into Britain during a week of protests against UK border regulations.


Heavily armed riot police were drafted in after the activists – from Britain, Germany, Italy and France – threatened to tear down fencing around the Channel Tunnel and lead the migrants into Britain.

Visitors to World War Two-themed weekend banned from wearing Hitler costumes

Visitors to a railway attraction's Second World War-themed weekend were banned from dressing up as Hitler or SS officers.

They were invited to don 1940s-style clothes, both British and German, for Severn Valley Railway's re-enactment yesterday and today.

But the Swastika, Nazi uniforms and Hitler impersonations were barred from the popular tourist draw in Worcestershire because organisers feared they would cause offence.continues here

You have to question who complained, who was it that felt aggrieved visiting an event, where the participates were in all likelihood to be wearing “Nazi”, (sic) uniform, what next, will plays be banned if they portray WW11 soldiers, will feature films merely allude to an enemy, let the audience guess as to their attire ,for fear of offence. I’m afraid it is an attack, leftists rule the roost I am afraid and they will censor, disparage and attack any and all “nationalistic” imagery, organisations or individuals and have no doubt, WW11 German soldiers, unlike our own, fought for a nationalist interest.

Police officers injured in May Day anti-war protests in Brighton

Three police officers were injured during clashes with anti-war protesters after hundreds gathered for a May Day demonstration.



Police said missiles were thrown at officers and their horses as activists marched through Brighton to demonstrate against an arms factory in the city.

Shop windows were scrawled with red graffiti, paint bombs were thrown and a handful of protesters climbed up scaffolding and unfurled a banner on top of Barclays bank.

The three officers suffered minor injuries after attempting to control the crowds in the seaside resort.

Sussex Police, who put the number of protestors at 500, made three arrests, including one for assaulting a police officer.

Brighton and Hove City Commander, Chief Supt Graham Bartlett said: “Once again, during a demonstration organised by Smash EDO, we have seen unjustified acts of violence aimed at premises and police officers, with some officers receiving minor injuries.

“Members of public including many visitors to the city have been clearly frightened and intimidated by a small minority of the group who have been verbally abusive, and throwing missiles at police. One member of public was struck in the face by a missile and had to be treated by a police medical team.”

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "Missiles have been thrown at police officers and police horses by the demonstrators.

"Three officers have suffered minor injuries – I do not believe they need hospital treatment."

The May Day march was organised by campaign group Smash EDO and was aimed at defence manufacturer EDO MBM Technology.

Smash EDO were criticised by Sussex Police for refusing to reveal in advance exact details of the protest, including how many people were expected and the route they planned to take.

They did, however, create an "antimilitarist" map of Brighton pinpointing more than 30 banks and businesses, including the city's American Express building, police stations and several McDonald's restaurants, and published it on their website.

Protesters chanted "Whose streets? Our streets" as they marched through the city, while police officers on horseback cleared the way ahead of them.

They also paused and jeered as they passed an Army Recruitment Centre.

A spokesman for the group claimed there were up to 1,000 protestors.

Organisers had instructed protesters to wear red, but many wore black with masks covering their faces, which they said was a stand against the country's surveillance society. Others wore more colourful costumes, including families with young children who were adorned with face paints and fancy dress.

Jane Blackson, 30, brought her daughter, Lala, four, to the protest.

"We must still make sure the government knows that we've not gone away and we're not happy for them to bomb people, and for this town to be making the bombs that kill innocent people", she said.

Rally urges illegal migrant amnesty

The Catholic Church in England and Wales has urged people not to vent their frustration on migrants during the recession as it gave its support to a rally calling for an earned amnesty for thousands of illegal immigrants in the UK.

The Rt Rev Patrick Lynch, auxiliary bishop of Southwark, said the Catholic Church in England and Wales had a long tradition of "standing in solidarity" with workers, especially migrant workers, and he prayed that migrants would not be made "scapegoats" during the economic downturn.

"My first prayer today is that during a time of recession when there will inevitably be job shortages, we as the church will do all we can not to allow migrant workers from within or outside the European Union to become scapegoats and targets of people's frustration with the economy," he told a Mass for migrant workers held at Westminster Cathedral, in central London.

The Mass was being held along with a series of other church services as part of the Strangers into Citizens day of action calling for an estimated 450,000 long-term illegal immigrants to be allowed to become citizens under a one-off "earned amnesty".

To qualify for the proposed measure, illegal immigrants would have to fulfil conditions including residence of at least four years, followed by a two-year "pathway" period, a clean criminal record, good English and character references.

In his sermon, Bishop Lynch said there was a "clear moral case" that undocumented workers who have lived and worked in this country for five years or more should be given the opportunity to build a future in the United Kingdom and continue to contribute to British society.

"You have worked here - your children have been born here and attend school here - you are part of our parishes and our society here and a way should be found so that you can remain here," he told the congregation of different nationalities, some of them in colourful national dress.

In a separate Anglican service held at St Margaret's Church, Westminster Abbey, the Bishop of Southwark, the Rt Rev Tom Butler, backed the Strangers into Citizens campaign. continues here

Amnesty for illegal immigrants

The Strangers into Citizenship campaign is calling for regularisation of some of the UK's illegal immigrants – a humane and practical move

On Monday, as London lies empty in the bank holiday sun, a hidden world will erupt. The capital's immigrant communities, together with members of parishes, schools and charities, MPs and trade unionists, will converge on Parliament Square.About 20,000 people will walk together to Trafalgar Square, holding up a bright orange banner that simply reads: ""Strangers into Citizens".

In the square, those gathered will hear a call for a measure that is practical, humane and of obvious benefit: a Spanish-style regularisation of a portion of the UK's irregular migrants, also known as "a pathway into citizenship" of the sort advocated by Barack Obama.

The idea is supported by people of all political colours: the Conservative mayor of London, the Liberal Democrats, a number of members of cabinet as well as policy institutes of the left, liberals and Conservatives. A one-off, selective regularisation would be simple to do, would pay for itself and the dividends would be great. Yet the very mention of it scares the government, who are anxious for you to know that they are tough on "illegal immigration" and worry that an "amnesty" would send the wrong message.

But let's be clear whom the Strangers into Citizens campaign – backed by Boris Johnson – believes should be regularised. A report out later this month commissioned from the London School of Economics by Johnson estimates there to be 750,000 "irregular migrants" in the UK. Most of these people entered legally, either through the asylum system or on some kind of visa; they would have then fallen into illegality when the immigration rules changed or when, after many years in limbo, their asylum claim failed. The Strangers into Citizens proposal is for a pathway into citizenship for those who have been in the UK for at least six years and who present employer and character references, a clean criminal record and proficiency in English, or have a strong humanitarian case. That would total, says the LSE, about 450,000 people.

All regularisations start from an admission that there is a mismatch between law and reality. According to the law, people who have no right to be here should go home. But people aren't like that. They make new lives, become part of families and communities. Most of those 450,000 are not going home, because their home has moved. The truth that all (including the Home Office) admit yet few are willing to face is this: a mass deportation is both impossible and morally unacceptable. That is why the government's is a bogus policy. The UK Border Agency has increased its forced removal rate to 60,000 per year, at a cost of £11,000 per removal. But it's a drop in the ocean. At this rate it will take 34 years and cost £9bn to remove everybody.

So the real alternative is some form of regularisation – or the status quo, in which a large part of the population lives in a shadow world, as sub-citizens, prone to exploitation, fearful of reporting crimes, undermining the minimum wage, unable to access rights and less likely to fulfil their obligations of paying taxes. A large population outside the law benefits no one.

Regularisation is the humane and practical solution. Combined with border-enforcement measures, such as those the government is bringing in at the moment, and measures to shrink the shadow economy, it helps to deter further illegal immigration. Such is the experience of Spain, which regularised 600,000 people in 2005 as part of a package of reforms which included tighter borders. Numbers entering Spain between 2001 and 2004 were considerably higher than those that have entered since. That's why, in the United States, regularisation is backed by those who favour more restrictive immigration measures. It enables immigration authorities to concentrate on those who intend to break the law rather than those whom the law is breaking.

Spain's regularisation – the fruit of consent between employers, unions and civil society in general – took three months and cost little. Immigrants are generally young, fit, and educated at another country's expense: they are not a burden on the benefits system.

What's left is politics, the nervousness of admitting that immigration policies have not succeeded, and the perception that regularisation in some way undermines legal immigration. But if the government really believed that, they wouldn't have granted leave to remain to thousands of asylum "legacy cases" this past year. The letters these people received informed them they could stay on the grounds of their "long association with the UK" – precisely the Strangers into Citizens argument. continues here

We must vote the BNP out of politics

Imagine an experiment to create fertile conditions for a far-right political party to thrive. You might start with an exhausted government. You would hang a pall of petty corruption over it - some systematic expenses fiddling, perhaps. Then you would throw in an economic crisis, high levels of immigration and a surge in unemployment. You would incubate the mix in a culture of contempt for mainstream politics.

No wonder Labour is worried about a surge in support for the British National party in local and European elections next month. As the Observer reports today, the ultra-nationalists look within reach of European parliamentary seats for the first time.

The BNP has often before hovered around the threshold of electoral breakthrough. The alarm is raised and the threat subsides. It is then argued that needless alarm advances the far-right cause; that the BNP thrives on publicity from panic-stricken liberals; that disapproval from Westminster burnishes their anti-establishment credentials; that they should be left to suffocate in media silence. That is not an option in the digital age. The BNP doesn't need mainstream media to get its message across. And it doesn't need any help persuading voters that their interests go unheeded by out-of-touch politicians in Westminster.

The BNP gets much more attention than other fringe parties because the doctrine of extreme nationalism is a nasty virus in the body politic. It cannot be ignored. It must be engaged and defeated.

That means raising the alarm to combat apathy. The proportional representation system in European elections means that tiny parties can do well out of a modest showing in a low overall turnout. Even a small increase in the numbers bothering to vote for other parties can put a cap on the far right's performance.

But the BNP also needs to be beaten with old-fashioned political argument. Its flimsy policies should be rebutted and its underlying motive - to foment fear and inter-racial tension - should be exposed. The BNP works hard to shed its skinhead image. Rule No 1 of its "language and concepts discipline manual" tells activists not to identify the party as "racist". Rule No 4 instructs them to obey the law. What kind of organisation needs to remind its members not to be thugs?

The BNP has traditionally submerged its "whites first" agenda in the language of economic opportunity. It has campaigned on crime, housing, education, jobs and links them all to immigration. It projects real policy concerns through a prism of race. That creates a tricky balancing act for local MPs who have to persuade voters that they are concerned about the problems without adopting the BNP's analysis of their cause.

It is true that many working-class white communities have fared badly under Labour. But that doesn't mean non-whites are winning at their expense. The idea that there is a fixed pool of success - that one person's gain is another's loss - is a basic fallacy in far-right thinking. But the BNP turns the shame of underachievement into an aggrieved sense of ethnic expropriation.

The same approach is now applied to the issue of MPs' expense claims. The public perception of a Westminster elite on the make allows the BNP to project itself as a party of anti-political outsiders. The race issue is thus submerged even deeper. But it is there. When the BNP claims to speak for "ordinary people" against the establishment, it still means "white people".

The best antidote to the far right would be a movement that aspires to represent everyone who feels disenfranchised, alienated, excluded, regardless of race; a movement that promotes solidarity among poorer voters instead of dividing them. It would speak with moral authority against a political system that looks, to many voters, grotesquely skewed in the interests of a narrow, wealthy elite. continues here


Denying the British National Party a voice, is to deny a sizable proportion of the electorate representation, it is to ride roughshod over the opinions of many in order to advance another,” more acceptable”, political cause, that of egalitarianism. Albeit, egalitarianism mixed up with high finance, integrationist theorising and liberalist interpretations of fact, in all honesty such a worldview bears absolutely no relation to that of the man on the street. If they could have their way ,we would all be equalised rather faster, rather more brutally under the banner of communism, they elude to this in this paragraph, when they say:

Isn’t this the self-same rhetoric of Marxists from time immemorial, the ridiculous idea that there are no distinct groups, be they racial or otherwise and that, the ills of the world stem from achievers. Their utopia means advanced tyranny, natural abilities suppressed at point of gun make no mistake, communism and by extension leftism, is not people friendly, in fact it is the reverse. Most, if not all voters for the British National Party are white, the vast majority indigenous to these isles, according to them such people should be denied political representation ,”because they don’t agree with their views”, is this not the very hallmark of communism, the repression of the peoples will and the imposition of that of the elites .

Riots across Europe fuelled by economic crisis

Tension over the global economic slump have fuelled May Day protests and riots across Europe with trouble breaking out in Germany, Greece, Austria, Turkey and France.

Police in Berlin arrested 57 people while around 50 officers were hurt as young demonstrators threw bottles and rocks and set fire to cars and rubbish bins. There were also clashes in Hamburg, where anti-capitalist protesters attacked a bank.

In Turkey, masked protesters threw stones and petrol bombs at police, smashing banks and supermarket windows in its biggest city, Istanbul. Security forces fired tear gas and water cannon at hundreds of rioters and more than a hundred were arrested with dozens more hurt. There were also scattered skirmishes with police in the capital, Ankara, where 150,000 people marched.

The government had declared May Day, traditionally marked by rallies by labour unions, a public holiday this year under pressure from unions.

In Greece, officers fired flash grenades to disperse rioters in Athens after attacks on banks and traffic cameras. Transport strikes disrupted bus, train and ferry services as well as flights by Greek carrier Olympic Airlines.

Twenty people were injured and five arrested after police clashed with demonstrators at a traditional labour day rally in Linz in northern Austria. The incident came after police intercepted some 50 hooded protesters among a procession of up to 700 people at a Communist Party rally.

In France, unions joined forces for the first time since the Second World War, but turnout was not as high as a protest day in March in which up to three million attended 300 rallies against President Nicolas Sarkozy's economic recovery plan.

Some politicians have warned of the threat of "revolution", following radical action such as "boss-napping" factory executives and an ongoing strike that has crippled dozens of French universities.

They are wary of the growing power of leftist radicals linked to the New Anti-Capitalist Party of Olivier Besancenot, a Trotskyist postman.

There were also marches in big cities in Spain, burdened with the highest unemployment rate in Europe. More than 10,000 people gathered in the centre of Madrid in a demonstration organised by the country's two largest trade unions.

In Italy, union leaders shifted rallies from major cities to the earthquake-stricken town of L'Aquila as a sign of solidarity with thousands who lost their jobs after last month's deadly quake.

In Russia, about 2,000 demonstrators gathered by a statue of Karl Marx in Moscow waving banners and red Soviet flags and calling for a return of communism.

In St Petersburg, birthplace of the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution, police arrested about 120 members far right militants armed with knives and knuckle dusters, police said.

Cuba's ailing former leader, Fidel Castro, chose May Day – a key event in the Communist calendar – to attack Barack Obama, the US President, saying the United States only wanted Cuba to return "to the fold, like slaves."

There has been growing concern among European governments about a groundswell of social unrest and violent street protests that have spread amid the economic downturn.

Bulgaria, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Greece and Iceland all faced social unrest and rioting earlier this year as unemployment soared and countries were forced to impose severe cuts to government spending. continues here

We need to wake up and tackle BNP poison head on

Unless the rest of us get our act together, the British National party could easily win three seats - and quite possibly six or more - in June's European elections. To win in the north-west it needs just 8% of the vote, barely 1.5% more than it got in 2004 - the days of near full employment and before the credit crunch; in the West Midlands only an extra 1.6%; and in Yorkshire and the Humber just 4.3% more. Recently the party has won council seats in byelections, polling - according to the BBC - an average of 14% in 60 wards: close to the threshold necessary to get a seat in almost every European constituency in Britain.

Electorally the BNP has become the most successful fascist party in Britain, gaining 800,000 votes in the 2004 European elections and 238,000 votes in the 2006 local elections - up from 3,022 six years earlier. And last year it won its first seat in the London assembly, doubling its support to 130,000 votes. And now the BNP is looking to benefit from a collapsing Ukip vote; in 2004 the combined BNP-Ukip vote stood at 21%.

Winning European seats would secure an unprecedented platform, and entitle the BNP to draw hundreds of thousands of euros from Brussels indirectly to buttress its full-time personnel and organisation. At the moment, apparently, the BNP's sole London member has to spend much of his time building up support for the party outside London.

It would also be able to work with other far-right and fascist parties in Europe, as Jean-Marie Le Pen's party has done from its base in France since winning 10 European seats in 1984.

With unemployment and job insecurity rising, some major construction sites appearing to bar local unionised labour, and affordable housing in short supply, there are classic conditions for the BNP's racist and fascist politics to thrive.

Thirty years ago rising unemployment and economic decline under Labour saw the BNP's predecessor, the National Front, also do worryingly well in elections. I helped to found the Anti-Nazi League in 1977 to target the National Front, and a mass campaign helped to put it out of business a few years later. Anti-Nazi League supporters developed their own initiatives, from Miners Against the Nazis to Skinheads Against the Nazis. There was even a Skateboarders Against the Nazis. With its sister group Rock Against Racism, the ANL organised huge national carnivals and local gigs, as rock music culture reaching millions was successfully fused with radical politics that traditionally had reached only thousands.

The lesson of the Anti-Nazi League's success is that the BNP needs to be confronted wherever its supporters march or appear in public; and they must also be denied platforms to spread their hate. This was the lesson of the 1930s when Blackshirts led by Oswald Mosley targeting Jewish communities in London's East End were physically stopped in Cable Street in October 1936.

But the BNP leaders are more sophisticated than the old National Front. They wear suits rather than openly flirt with nazism. They sound smooth and plausible on radio or TV. They are exploiting alienation from Westminster politics, particularly among the white working class.

Yet their politics are fundamentally similar: the scapegoating of black people, Muslims, Jews, foreigners, gays and lesbians for social and economic problems. Whenever they are ascendant locally, racial violence and racial hatred are barely beneath the surface.

Although desperate to conceal its fascist and racist instincts, the BNP is the National Front reincarnated - albeit using modern spin and the internet, coupled with a community-based politics that thrives on grievances about "British jobs for British workers".

To confront the BNP's threat, the priority must be grassroots campaigning. Labour must win back trust by fielding candidates rooted in their communities and pledged to deliver on local issues. That was successful in Tameside, Keighley and Telford, for example - but sadly not in Sevenoaks last February, where the BNP took a "safe" Labour ward.

All the main parties, Labour especially, must shake off their complacency and take on the BNP directly. Its poison should be combated on the doorstep, through leafleting and campaigning. Labour candidates and campaigners should work with those from Unite Against Fascism (uaf.org.uk) and Stop the BNP (stopthebnp.org.uk). Both organisations are mobilising a new generation of activists and concerned people from trade unions, churches and other organisations. continues here

You see they tell us we live in a democracy, that each man has a voice and then, they tell us who to vote for, more than even this they launch a campaign of smears, lies and intimidation against their opposition. The British National Party need to succeed in this election, they need to get at least one MEP elected, this augments party funding and will perhaps help to disseminate, at the very least a quasi-nationalist message. It is of the utmost importance, that the stranglehold upon this nation, be broken and we must do whatever it takes in order to make it so.

I could rail all day about the BNP’s direction, about their lack of advocacy of the race realist position, “although I have to say, “this may of changed of late”, I could jump really quite easily, upon many of the anti-griffin bandwagons however, I simply don’t care. I take my position, from what I perceive to be right for the people, sometimes this means I take a contrary BNP line and at other times not, in this instance, placing even populist nationalism within the very citadels of power can only aid nationalism and indeed the people.

It may very well be that once they are there, if they go that far, I may lament their inaction or disagree with their approach however, just in them achieving victory in the forth-coming elections, may give hope to the many millions left behind in this race to dystopia. We must I believe, support, encourage and indeed promote the BNP in their endeavours, to do otherwise aids no-one, no-one that is except the current regime, of course in return for support the BNP must address issues of concern, primarily at least to me the race issue.

Academics plan to boycott new student immigration rules

A group of academics are threatening to boycott the government's new immigration rules for students, saying orders that they monitor international students' movements are discriminatory.

The 35 academics, who describe themselves as being involved in researching the "uses and abuses of state power" say that they are increasingly being drawn into the role of "policing students" by the immigration authorities. The lecturers include some at Liverpool John Moores University, which was caught up in the terror arrests of 12 Pakistani nationals on student visas last week in connection with a major terror plot.

In a letter to the Guardian, they say that under new rules they are being asked to report students who don't turn up to lectures and to check the ID of students and visiting academics from other countries. 

The letter says: "We strongly oppose the imposition of such changes in the way that academic institutions are run. We believe these practices are discriminatory and distort academic freedoms. The implementation of UK immigration policies is not part of our contractual duties and we will play no part in practices which discriminate against students and staff."

How the external and internal attribution theory can affect interracial employee relationships

With a struggling economy, employment has become one of the most competitive aspects of our community. Not only is this constant competition seen among people searching for an adequate job in this time of need, but also within the inner-workings of a business. However, the conflict in the inner-workings of a business may not always be caused by the struggling economy, but rather from the relationship among employees. The external and internal attribution theory can be a tremendous issue affecting employee relationships. External attribution theory causes people to use exterior reasons for the consequences of their actions, whereas internal attribution theory causes a person to blame himself or herself for the causality of certain consequences. These theories can cause miscommunication in the workplace, and allow for a sense of superiority or inferiority among co-workers. This creates an extremely hostile environment, and a business built on unsteady grounds.

The different usage of the external or internal attribution theory among employees is one reason for unstable employee relationships. This can be caused by differences in culture and history. White males have run America since the beginning of time, which has created a sense of a “white standard” in our country. The white standard is a skewed belief that, in order to prosper, being white and successful is key. This can be correlated to the usage of the external attribution theory of white people. If a white person feels superior, they are more likely to blame the consequences of their actions on external factors. If a CEO is struggling with his business, he may attribute it to the employees in lower positions who are not doing their job correctly. However, this is not to say that all white people feel superior, or use the external attribution theory.

On the other hand, black people have struggled in America for many years, and still continue to struggle. Dating back to the time of slavery, black people were made to feel unintelligent and inferior to white people. Even today, black people sometimes struggle with institutional racism. This may be the cause of their usage of the internal attribution theory. If culturally, they have been made to feel different and separate from white people, they may blame causality on internal factors, and even feel inferior to others.

The usage of the internal or external attribution theory can be the root of much miscommunication among employees. If an employee, who exercises the external attribution theory in order to explain causality, constantly confronts an employee who exercises the internal attribution theory, resentment could be formed. As a result, people who use the internal attribution theory may begin to resent themselves for causing a problem, and also may begin to dislike the user of the external attribution theory. This difference in usage of theory also correlates to the sense of superiority and inferiority among employees in the workplace. Those who believe they are the cause of a problem may be more prone to feel inferior to someone who blames others for a failure. People who blame others for the causality of a situation may be more prone to feelings of superiority. This feeling of inferiority can be associated with institutional racism. If a black employee, who utilizes the internal attribution theory, is reprimanded about a problem by a white employee who utilizes the external attribution theory, it may seem like, or very well may be, racism.

Therefore, the different usages of the external and internal attribution theories can affect relationships of employees within a business. Although we cannot change someone’s history or culture, we can understand that there are differences present. A white CEO of a corporation may need to be more sensitive in blaming a black employee for a malfunction within a business, knowing that it may be interpreted as institutional racism. continues here

Violence on Paris streets as millions protest against Nicolas Sarkozy's handling of economic crisis

Violent skirmishes broke out in Paris last night after a day in which millions took to the streets as part of a nationwide protest over the government's handling of the economic crisis.



Schools, courts, post offices, universities and hospitals were closed, with public transport severely disrupted, as up to 200 marches were organised against President Nicolas Sarkozy's approach to the global downturn.

The biggest protests were in Paris, where police said up to 85,000 people took five hours to walk from Place de la République to Place de la Nation. As the light faded, hundreds of riot police were sent to the area where anarchist groups waving revolutionary flags were among those massing. Riot police fired rounds of tear gas after demonstrators lit fires and smashed shop windows. Fighting broke out on all corners of the square, with police moving in to try to arrest ring leaders.

Chants of "Sarkozy resign" were heard as what appeared to be well organised gangs went on the rampage in surrounding streets, targeting banks and other symbols of capitalism.A riot police spokesman said: "There are a number of people who seem

determined to cause trouble. We are doing everything we can to maintain order."

There were more than 300 arrests in Paris alone, according to police. Ten officers were seriously injured by a variety of missiles, including bottles, metal bars and bricks.

Earlier, unions said that the number of protesters nationwide had approached three million. Police put the estimate at greater than the two million who took part in similar demonstrations at the end of January.

The latest strike won support across the country, with three quarters of those questioned in polls saying they feared for their futures.

Mr Sarkozy unveiled a package of proposals, including tax breaks and social benefits, after January's strike, but protesters said the £2.3 billion deal was not enough. The president said on Wednesday he understood "the concerns of the French people" but ruled out plans for further measures.

He rejected mounting calls by unions and the opposition to suspend a 50 per cent cap on income tax, arguing that it would drive wealthy taxpayers abroad.
