Pictured: The terrifying moment when a would-be rapist dragged his victim off the street

08:04 by Editor · 2 Post a comment on AAWR

Gripping his intended victim so she has no chance of escape, a would-be rapist forces the woman off the street with terrifying strength.

The 18-year-old had been out with friends when she was seized by the powerfully built man and dragged along 'like an animal'.

She was pulled into a side street and forced to the ground - but thankfully a passer-by heard her cries and came to the rescue.

Her attacker, schizophrenic Samson Bello, 23, committed two other sex attacks on women within hours of this.

The Nigerian-born predator, who came to Britain ten years ago, was sentenced this week at Southwark Crown Court in London. He will be detained indefinitely under the Mental Health Act.

He pleaded guilty to four charges - three attempted rapes and one count of kidnapping with intent to commit a sexual offence.

The harrowing images of the attack, which took place near King's Cross in Central London, were released yesterday as it emerged that detectives tracked Bello to his home using CCTV.

Yard chiefs say the case proves the value of surveillance cameras.

The court heard Bello pounced on his first victim on March 29 and attacked another three - including this woman - two days later.

He lurked in darkened alleys waiting for them to approach.

Bello, who has a history of mental illness, launched his first attack on a 16-year-old girl in Marylebone High Street at 3.30am on March 29.

The victim said she was grabbed by Bello who told her: 'Come with me. If you scream then I’ll hurt you.'

She was pulled into an alleyway and assaulted before a passer-by intervened. Two days later Bello went on the rampage attacking three women in three hours.

A 24-year-old woman was attacked in the Prince of Wales Passage off Hampstead Road at 12.30am.

The Spanish woman fought back and the attack was interrupted by a passer-by.

As they walked past, he grabbed them, dragged them into the shadows, threw them to the ground and did his best to tear off their clothes.

Their screams and the intervention of passers-by forced him to flee on three occasions, while the last victim he attacked put up such a determined fight he gave up.

Apart from severe psychological trauma, all escaped with bruises and abrasions.

Police examined hours of CCTV street and bus footage and eventually tracked the defendant to Hackney, East London, where he lived.

They then 'flooded' the area with officers and days later spotted him yards from his home.

Unemployed Bello pleaded guilty to attempting to rape a 16-year-old girl as well as carbon copy offences against a 24-year- old Spanish tourist and the 18-year-old student in Islington two days later.

He also pleaded guilty to kidnapping another student, 20, 'with intent to commit a serious sexual offence'. continues here

EDITOR'S Comment: You see the truth of the matter is that successive governments are almost as much to blame as the perpetrators, were it not for their insistence upon flooding this country with all and sundry then many victims would not have been created. Negroes have a high incidence of schizophrenia and similar mental illness and it is no lie to state that as such they present an absolute risk to the public at large. Yet we permit the influx of tens of thousands per year and little is done to check background and in many cases a background check is impossible, under a true nationalist government repatriation would be introduced and non-whites would be returned to their ancestral homeland, making the streets safer for all.

Sadistic pair jailed for horrific rape of young mum

10:18 by Editor · 0 Post a comment on AAWR

Two knife-wielding burglars who gang-raped a young mother in her home as her young son begged them to stop have been locked up.

The drink and drug-fuelled pair took turns to rape the woman after horrifically killing the child’s pet in front of him.

Mansoor Shah, 18, of Glenlee Road, Great Horton, Bradford, was locked up indefinitely for taking the leading role.

Judge Jonathan Rose said Shah had taken “revolting pleasure” in the sadistic abuse of a terrified young woman.

Stefan Reed, 17, of Lister Avenue, West Bowling, Bradford, was sent to detention for nine years. Both pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary on November 10 last year and raping the woman twice.

Judge Rose said the break-in while the 22-year-old mother and her son slept was motivated by revenge and lust.

He told the teenagers, both handcuffed in the dock at Bradford Crown Court: “You took part in criminality so wicked, so cruel and so brutal that it will stagger and revolt all right-thinking people.”

Shah and Reed broke into the woman’s bedroom armed with kitchen knives.

Peter Moulson, prosecuting, said Shah put the mother through a six-hour ordeal after a row over a party. He threatened to “slice her up”.

Shah tried to force her to drink bleach and made her down vodka, then beat the child’s pet against a wall and stabbed it.

He shattered tubes from a sunbed and threatened to smash one over the woman’s head as her son screamed and begged, Mr Moulson said.

He tied them together with flex and struck her with a claw hammer, pulling out her hair.

He stabbed her after Reed, who laughed during her ordeal, insulted him. The pair ransacked the house, daubing it in paint.

They each raped the woman twice while the other stayed with the boy. She did not scream because she did not want her son to hear, the court was told.

The pair lit a gas ring and tried to set the kitchen on fire. While they were distracted, the woman fled the house with her son.

Reed had rings stolen from the woman on him when the pair were arrested the same day. continues here

Anand Jon is victim of US racism, says sister

08:01 by Editor · 0 Post a comment on AAWR

New Delhi, Aug 18 (IANS) Sanjana Jon, sister of jailed Indian-American fashion designer Anand Jon, Tuesday pleaded the government to extradite her brother for a fair trial because "being an Indian in the US, I know we won't get justice".

Anand Jon, who dressed celebrities like Janet Jackson and Paris Hilton, was arrested in the US in 2007 on charges of raping more than a dozen models. He has been in jail for the last 30 months. "I am here not only as Anand's sister but as an Indian who is suffering because we are just guilty by colour..."

Sanjana is in India to fight for justice to "innocent" Anand, who she said was "held in solidarity confinement".

"We have been subjected to racism. Even mass murderers are not treated that way, the way Anand is treated in jail," she told the media.

"All I want is that the government should intervene and do something to save my brother who has been suffering due to racism and indiscrimination towards Indians," Sanjana said.

"I am here not only as Anand's sister but as an Indian who is suffering because we are just guilty by colour. Anand deserves a fair trial and the only way to get that is by extraditing him back to India," she said.

Sanjana broke down in tears when a presentation on her brother was shown to the media.

"I am fighting this battle of saving my brother all alone. Today my life is running between jail and courtroom but the irony is that I am sure that no justice will be given to my brother," a teary-eyed Sanjana said.

"Being an Indian in the US, I know that we won't get justice and that's why I am here to ask for the support of the government and everyone to come forward and support me," she added.

Anand is going for another trial Aug 31, where he might be convicted for lifetime.

"I don't have that much time. If the government doesn't come forward, then it would be responsible for hurting and losing three people (Anand and his mother and sister)," she said.

Sanjana threatened to go on a hunger strike if her plea was not heeded to.

"I will go on a hunger strike if the government doesn't listen to any of my pleas. I wouldn't be here if I didn't know that my brother was innocent," Sanjana maintained.

Designers Leena Singh, Samanth Chauhan, Charu Parashar were present to show solidarity.

"I am here to support Sanjana. We are not here to give our opinion about what is right and what is wrong but as a part of fashion fraternity," Parashar told IANS. continues here

Appeal over sex attack

13:45 by Editor · 0 Post a comment on AAWR

DETECTIVES have issued a description of a man they want to speak to in connection with a serious sexual assault on a 16-year-old girl.

The attack occurred in Rise Park at around 9.30pm on Monday, after the girl had been walking home after spending the evening with friends.

The girl had walked over Moorbridge and along Hucknall Road before turning into the disused railway line near the junction with Bestwood Park Drive West.

When the girl was about 100 metres along the path, a man came out of the bushes at the side of path and asked her for a light for his cigarette. After she gave him a light, the man grabbed her and pushed her to the ground before subjecting her to a serious sexual assault. He then made off towards Bestwood Park Drive West.

The victim has described her attacker as black, about 35, and well built. She also said he was unshaven and had stubble on his face. He was dressed all in black, and was wearing a black hooded top and black leather gloves.

She has been left extremely upset by the attack and is currently being cared for by her family.

The area of railway track that was cordoned off yesterday afternoon has undergone a full forensic examination and has now been released by detectives.

Detective Inspector Tim Jones, who is leading the investigation, said: "This was an unprovoked attack on a young girl walking home after spending time with friends, and she has been left deeply traumatised.

"We want to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident or who recognises the description of this man. We also would like anyone who saw someone acting suspiciously in the area at the time of the attack or who has any information about the incident, no matter how insignificant they may think it is, to contact police immediately.continues here

Gang rape in London

13:37 by Editor · 0 Post a comment on AAWR

A couple of days ago I published a brief post from South Africa which reported that one in 4 males admitted to being rapists. But rape in the city is not just happening on a large scale in South Africa. Here in London a recent Channel 4 Dispatches documentary highlighted the prevalence of gang rape by young boys. Rape in the City was produced by award winning Sierra Leonean journalist., Sorious Samura who despite being “shot at, spat at and abused” in the making of past documentary’s was still shocked by what he found. During the war in Sierra Leone, Samura had witnessed a gang rape, something he associated with war and not what he expected to find on the streets of London.

I felt so angry and hurt watching these young boys casually denigrate girls with their attitude and words – I find it hard to express my own feelings. Listening to a group of young boys who spoke of a “line up” where a line of boys stand in wait whilst a girl performs oral sex, was appalling. The boys did not even think there was anything wrong in setting up and coercing girls to have sex with them. For them the girls were just trash to be abused.there are a disproportionate number of young black boys involved in gang rape... Girls spoke of the horrific experience of being gang raped, one as a punishment for her comments about a friends boyfriend who was a gang leader. She was repeatedly raped by 4 or 5 boys who later called more boys to join in. The attitude of the boys was that it was the girls fault and nothing to do with them and that if a girl was amongst them then she was asking for it. On being questioned about STD’s one boy said he would ‘batter’ any girl that passed on a STD.

In the course of my research I have been shocked to hear victims and witnesses to gang rape talk about the incidence of this crime as if it were just a fact of urban life. Girls are passed around groups of boys. Sometimes these girls initially consent because they want to be popular, but the incident then turns nasty. Sometimes a girl unwittingly walks into a trap, innocently visiting someone’s house to listen to music or watch a film and then discovering that a group of boys are laying in wait. Occasionally the gang rape is used to punish a girl for talking out of turn……….

And yet in the course of my Dispatches investigation I have discovered that gang rape is becoming part of the fabric of life for some young people living in our cities. But it’s not gang rape as you might imagine – it’s not, in most cases, the seizing of girls off the streets by total strangers. It’s happening in homes and at parties between young people who are known to each other, who run in the same crowds. And what’s most disturbing to me is that it’s often just the result of a group of boys deciding to force sex on an unwitting girl, who doesn’t realise that the invitation to someone’s house to watch DVDs or to hang out in the local park is a set up for gang rape. It can happen because a group of boys is attracted to a particular girl or just because she has annoyed one of them.

It is again shocking to learn that gang rape is not even recognised as a separate criminal offence and each rapist is tried as having committed an individual crime. It’s also clear from his report that the police are less than enthusiastic about dealing with rape particularly when it happens in the Black community. Only a few police forces even bothered to respond to his requests for statistics on rapes and rape convictions. The London Metropolitan Police did provide records that showed 108 gang rapes[3 or more rapists] were reported in London in 2008 – from that alone its not exaggerating to state that the actual gang rapes are probably at least double that. Three quarters of the convicted rapists were young black men…

On the face of it, these figures may appear small, but they are nevertheless statistically significant when you consider that nearly three quarters of those convicted were black. Why the incidence should be higher amongst young black men I do not know, but the stats speak for themselves, and on the ground youth workers and community leaders confirmed our conclusions. Sheldon Thomas, a Brixton youth worker, acknowledges that there are a disproportionate number of young black boys involved in gang rape, and it’s something that’s of real concern to him, ‘because we’ve got a situation in our community that needs to be addressed. And I don’t believe that we are addressing it’.

But whilst I would agree that we need to address the disproportionate incidence within the black community, I think it would be wrong to label this as a black issue. What we need is for people from across all communities and public sectors to engage with this issue, and colour must not get in the way of that.

The silence around these crimes allows them to continue with impunity. The silence of the police who do not offer protection to those few young girls and women who report rape. One young girl in the programme reported the rape but had to withdraw the charges after she was threatened, had bottles and objects thrown at her by the rapists. Why was she and her family not protected. How is she supposed to live in the same community where she has to pass these young men daily? Women have always been at the forefront in the movement against violence against women. Is it not about time for men to take a stand against rape? Not just Black men but all men. The responsibility to protect young girls and take an uncompromising stand against misogyny and rape on estates, the streets and in the playground has to come from the local authorities, the police, the schools and the community. .continues here

Gang rape: Is it a race issue?

15:01 by Editor · 0 Post a comment on AAWR

A high proportion of such attacks appears to be carried out by young black men, according to Metropolitan Police statistics. Sorious Samura investigates this horrendous crime – and what it says about Britain today

In 1999 I witnessed a gang rape in Sierra Leone. I was forced to watch a group of rebel soldiers taking it in turns to rape a young girl in front of an audience of jeering men. It was the height of the civil conflict and rape had become a devastating weapon of war. When I moved to Britain I believed I had escaped such horrific sexual violence. As my Dispatches investigation tomorrow night shows, I was mistaken. Gang rape is happening here – and what I have found most disturbing as an African is that a disproportionate number of these attacks are being carried out by black or mixed-race young men.

Towards the end of last year, police and child welfare experts working on Channel 4's Street Weapons Commission told us of their concerns about gang rape. Then two big cases hit the headlines.

In December, nine schoolboys, some as young as 13 at the time of the attack, were convicted of raping a 14-year-old girl. She was dragged between tower blocks in Hackney where she was threatened with a knife, hit and raped during an ordeal that lasted an hour and a half – some of which was filmed on mobile phones. In January, three men were convicted of gang raping a 16-year-old with learning disabilities for two hours before dousing her with caustic soda in an effort to get rid of the evidence.

How prevalent is this crime and why it is happening in Britain? Despite the seriousness of the crime, I was amazed to discover that no national statistics exist: gang rape is simply not recorded as a separate crime category. So over a period of several months we set about collating our own. "There was just loads of boys and the girl's tights were ripped up, like, she was bleeding as well, because I think she was a virgin, and they were just taking turns on her basically, and she was crying, and I didn't get involved because I thought if I get involved they're gonna turn on me."

We approached the Crown Prosecution Service, the Association of Chief Police Officers, all 50 police forces, crown courts, barristers and rape referral centres to try to establish the numbers.

One of the few police forces to have begun recording the figures of reported gang rape is the Metropolitan Police. In 2008 alone, they received reports of 85 gang rapes. Using the Met's definition of gang rape – those involving three or more perpetrators – we began to look at the number of convictions. We tracked down 29 cases, from January 2006 to March 2009, in which a total of 92 young people were convicted of involvement in gang rape.

One fact stood out. Of those convicted, 66 were black or mixed race, 13 were white and the remainder were from other countries including Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya.

Clearly this is not a crime exclusive to black communities, but I found it impossible to ignore the fact that such a high proportion were committed by black and mixed-race young men. As a black man as well as a journalist, I wanted to understand what lay behind such attacks. So I spoke to victims, groups of black and mixed-race teenagers, youth and social workers and community leaders.

The groups of young men I met in London expressed some profoundly disturbing attitudes towards girls and sex. The boys explained how they make arrangements for "line-ups" in which one girl has oral sex with up to six or seven of them at one time. These arrangements might be made at school or on mobile phones.

Sometimes these girls initially consent because they want to be popular. But these events can spiral into rape because the boys consider that any girl who is prepared to agree to a line-up can be considered fair game. One boy told me: "If she wants to go and meet a bag of boys then she's probably a jezzie [slut], and if she's going to a house it's over – she's going to get beaten [have sex]."

In other instances, as some of the victims in our film describe, girls can unwittingly walk into a trap, innocently visiting someone's house to listen to music or watch a film only to discover that a group of boys are lying in wait. Or they might be hanging out with friends in a park and suddenly realise they have become surrounded by a group of boys intent on sex.

For both boys and girls, the line between this sort of group sex and rape seems to be blurred. A girl might agree to have oral sex with two or three boys but then be ordered to have sex with six or seven. The teenage girls I met told me that boys simply don't understand what rape is. And yet this is a crime that can ruin lives and is punishable by life imprisonment.

Occasionally gang rape is used to punish a girl for minor transgressions against gang members. In one of my most shocking interviews, I met a girl who admitted she had helped to set up girls for gang rape. As the girlfriend of a gang member, she organised these rapes, partly out of fear and partly to fit in.

She admitted she was terrified of being raped herself and had walked away when witnessing a girl being gang-raped at a party because she feared she might be next: "There was just loads of boys and the girl's tights were ripped up, like, she was bleeding as well, because I think she was a virgin, and they were just taking turns on her basically, and she was crying, and I didn't get involved because I thought if I get involved they're gonna turn on me."

The victims' descriptions of their attacks are horrific. One young victim likened her attack to being "pulled and pushed around like a rag doll", while another 14-year-old girl described her ordeal when she was gang raped by a total of nine boys who told her that she was not the only girl they had attacked. In that case, nine boys were subsequently convicted of raping her. The youngest perpetrator was just 12 years old.

I found there was concern among black communities about this violence. The Rev Joyce Daley, from the Black Parents Forum in Hackney, told me that gang rape is not a rare or one-off phenomenon. It is happening on a regular basis. She said: "It could actually explode on our very streets." Steve Griffith, a youth worker in King's Cross, said: "I see too much abuse of young women on the streets."

Gang rape, while constituting only a tiny percentage of all rapes in the UK, is a horrible reality in this country. The nature of the crime is so appalling that much more research needs to be carried out into its causes. But what seems evident from my investigation is that the key to preventing it will be changing the way young men view women and the kind of group sexual activity they are engaging in at such a young age.continues here

'Night Stalker' serial rapist strikes nine times in the last fortnight

18:26 by Editor · 0 Post a comment on AAWR

Britain's most wanted serial burglar and sex attacker - a man dubbed 'Night Stalker' - may have struck again, detectives fear.

Specialist officers have been brought in to investigate nine burglaries at properties in south London over the last fortnight.

They fear a serial rapist is behind the flurry of crimes.

The light-skinned black man, responsible for more than 100 offences dating back to 1990, preys on the elderly.

Some of his victims, both men and women, have been raped and sexually assaulted.

He often wears a mask and wakes his victims by shining a torch in their faces.

Police said only one of the burglaries has been linked conclusively after DNA was recovered.

The criminal is already thought to be behind 25 raids this year.

Two of the break-ins took place a short distance from each other in Shirley, near Croydon.

The victims were aged 91 and 93.

Forensic experts scoured the houses as officers from Operation Minstead, the unit set up to identify and capture the suspect, were alerted.

The burglaries bring the total number of raids linked to the man during a 19-year reign of terror to at least 106.

The attacks have taken place in clusters in south and south-east London, including Dulwich, Orpington, Norwood, Downham, Lee, West Wickham and Bickley.

The culprit is thought to be an employed black male, aged between 35 and 45, who masks his crimes behind the veneer of a respectable life.

He is believed to have a sexual fixation with the elderly as his victims have been aged 68 to 99, with an average age in the 80s.

Police said the man has raped four victims, one of whom suffered horrific injuries and almost died in surgery.

On more than 24 other occasions he sexually assaulted his victims during raids police have linked through DNA and other forensic evidence.

Although the vast majority of his victims have been women, police said they also included 10 elderly men, one of whom suffered a sexual attack.

Most offences have taken place in south-east London, although the man may also have links to Brighton.

In 2006, detectives flew to Trinidad to make an appeal for information after forensic techniques showed the suspect originates from the Windward Islands.

At the time, Detective Superintendent Simon Morgan, who is led the investigation, said the suspect has periods of 'non-offending' which suggest he is not always in the UK.

He added: 'The purpose of our visit to Trinidad is to try and narrow down our list of possible suspects by using the very latest forensic science techniques.

'We believe there may be links down the generations between our suspect and the countries of the Caribbean.

'We want to appeal for information that may assist in tracing this individual and stop his offending.

'To date, we know that the offender has periods of non-offending that may suggest that he is not always in the UK.'

A reward of up to £40,000 remains on offer to anyone who can provide information that leads police to him.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman today confirmed that one woman was assaulted during the recent spate of burglaries. continues here

Adult asylum seeker 'raped girl,13, after he lied about age and was placed in children's home'

11:03 by Editor · 0 Post a comment on AAWR

An asylum-seeker has been arrested after the alleged rape of a young girl from a children's home where he had been placed after apparently lying about his age.

The Afghan presented himself to Birmingham Social Services and claimed he was a 13 year-old minor, but staff suspected he was really over 18.

He was placed at the council-run children's home after producing medical evidence at an immigration hearing which seemingly backed his claims of being a child.

But the Afghan was later arrested following the suspected rape of a 13-year-old girl from the care home and police found an immigration card which appeared to confirm that he was really 19.

Social services have now begun an investigation after the asylum-seeker was quizzed about the suspected sex attack, a case which has seen another adult charged with rape.

'The Afghan presented himself some time ago as a minor, seeking asylum,' said a source. 'He claimed to be 13 years old but from the outset social services had doubts.

'Yet if someone's an asylum-seeker and a minor then social services are duty bound to look after them.

'Birmingham social services' experts were involved in challenging his claim that he was 13 at two immigration hearings and at one hearing he was legally declared an adult.

'But at an appeal he produced a letter from a doctor claiming he had some characteristics of a child, so the court had to accept he was a child.'

The asylum-seeker is currently on police bail after being arrested on suspicion of the rape, which is alleged to have occurred in Birmingham last month.

Two youths in their late teens were also detained by police. One was later charged with rape and remanded in custody after appearing before Midland magistrates, while the other has also been released on police bail.

The Afghan has now been moved to a 'specialist placement' while police inquiries continue into the alleged rape, as well as his true age.

'The truth is we just don't know how old he is for sure,' said one source. 'Most think he is an adult over the age of 18. It's proving it that has been the problem.'

A Birmingham City Council spokesman said: 'We are cooperating with police investigations in relation to a young person and these investigations are ongoing.

'People referred without documents to support their age present difficulties to all local authorities. continues here

Raped because I'm white

                                                      Victim targeted by immigrant

A DEVASTATED young mum has told how she was raped by an illegal immigrant - because he enjoyed hurting white girls.

Brave Sarah Douglas waived her right to anonymity to relive her terrifying ordeal at the hands of Amos Moobeng and stormed: "This racist should be shipped back home to rot in jail."

Sarah, 20, came forward after the South African was sentenced to nine years in prison for holding her hostage before raping her after she went to his flat with a pal.

The judge told the court Moobeng, 35, "deliberately targeted two white females".

But Sarah believes the monster has not been punished enough. "It makes me sick to think that this evil man came over specifically to rape and assault white girls," she said. "He should be booted out of the country.

"Instead, while he has shattered my life, he has the dream life he came here for - a comfy bed, a TV to watch whenever he likes and hot food three times a day. Where is the justice in that?"

Police figures have revealed that immigrants are carrying out one in six rapes in Britain - and an astonishing one in THREE in London. And last month it was revealed Romanian Ali Majlat attacked a British woman so he could go to jail because his rapist elder brother wrote to him saying how cushy life was in our prisons.

Moobeng was on the run after his visa ran out when he targeted Sarah and her pal at a hotel bar in Exeter.

"He came over with his friend Benson and was being very over the top and flirting with my friend," said Sarah. "I was pleased for her. She'd been single for a long time so I went along with it when he suggested we go to a club."

She only found out through Benson's trial evidence why Moobeng was so interested. "He said Moobeng had been making fun of me and my friend as soon as he saw us because we were white. He wanted to hurt us because we were white."

Six-footer Moobeng then invited the girls back to his flat for a nightcap. It was there he pounced. Sarah said: "He jumped on top of me and started kissing my neck but I kicked him off. I told my friend I wanted to go home before storming into the bathroom.

"The next thing Amos literally ripped the bathroom door from its hinges and shouted, 'Get out of there now'. Then I saw him grab my friend and whack her round the face three times. I screamed at him to leave her alone. He just stared at me." The girls fled the flat but in the panic Sarah lost her pal. She made the mistake of going back to find her. Moobeng was waiting.

"I heard the locks turn on the front door behind me when I went inside. He grabbed my wrist and pulled me upstairs into a bedroom. He locked that door too. I was screaming, crying and kicking.

"He slapped me around the face and then ripped off my clothes and raped me.

"All I could do was shut my eyes and scream and scream. He was so strong and no matter what I did I just couldn't free myself. I thought I was going to die.

"Afterwards I ran towards the window to try and jump out but he grabbed me and threw me back on to the bed.

"I kicked and screamed but he pinned me up against the wall and punched and punched at me until eventually I must have passed out." When she came to, she ran out of the flat to discover police - called by her friend - waiting.

Their sniffer dogs found Moobeng crouching behind the building but when arrested he gave a false name. He later jumped bail after the attack in 2007 but was tracked down to Edinburgh.

He was convicted of rape, false imprisonment and assault. Moobeng was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life and was told he would be deported after serving his sentence.

Now Sarah is trying to piece her life back together and has managed to find love since the attack. She and her partner Dave Koker, 23, have just had a baby girl. continues here

Man who raped 69-year-old woman twice not competent for trial

13:34 by Editor · 0 Post a comment on AAWR

A man who brutally raped and beat a 69-year-old woman twice, then returned a third time a night later, avoided a rape and murder trial this week after a judge ordered him committed to a state psychiatric hospital.

Mario Roberto Rosales Trejo, 33, who has been jailed since February 2005, was set for trial Tuesday on rape and murder charges, but Collier Circuit Judge Fred Hardt ruled that he was not competent to stand trial and should be committed to a psychiatric facility.

Hardt made his ruling after Assistant State Attorney Steve Maresca and Deputy Public Defender Mike Orlando stipulated that he wasn’t competent.

“I had a doctor’s report and the state stipulated to it,” Orlando said. “The doctor found him incompetent.”

Because the reports are confidential, Orlando couldn’t elaborate, but said he asked for a doctor to interview Rosales because “there were clues” his competency needed to be checked.

Rosales’ case will be reviewed every six months, or could come up sooner if doctors say his competency has been restored. However, he can’t be released from the psychiatric facility until the judge reviews medical reports and orders it.

Maresca, who said the victim’s daughter, her only relative, was not in court and lives out of state, but was told what would be occurring in the case.

“We want to make sure there are no problems when we go to trial,” Maresca said. “A defendant needs to be competent to be able to go to trial.”

Maresca said there is other evidence linking the crime to Rosales, but would not disclose what it was.

Rosales, who also uses the alias Mario Roberto Trejo Rosales, was arrested on Feb. 1 as he returned to the woman’s home off Bay Shore Drive in East Naples to break in a third time. She was raped on Jan. 24, 2005, and a week later, on Jan. 31, when she was so badly beaten she was taken to a hospital. A day later, when he was arrested, she identified him from a live lineup at the jail.

“I will never be able to forget his face,” she told Collier County Sheriff’s investigators.

She was hospitalized again Feb. 6 due to the injuries and died on Feb. 28, 2005.

The prosecutor later charged Rosales with felony murder, a killing that occurs while committing another felony — in this case the rape and burglary. The state opted not to seek the death penalty.

Rosales is an illegal immigrant from Honduras who also lived in a home off Bay Shore Drive, near his victim. He still remains held without bond in the county jail.

In addition to felony murder, Rosales is charged with two counts each of sexual battery with serious injury and burglary with assault and battery, all felonies punishable by life in prison. He also is charged with grand theft, a third-degree felony.

In a separate case stemming from the night he was arrested, he’s charged with burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, a second-degree felony punishable by 15 years in a state prison, battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest with violence, both third-degree felonies.

After the attacks, then-Sheriff Don Hunter described them as brutal. He called the second attack “even more brutal” than the first. The woman was beaten and her possessions, including about $1,500 in jewelry, were stolen from her home.

At about 10 p.m. on Jan. 24, 2005, sheriff’s reports say Rosales forced his way into the woman’s home. She said she thought it might be her grandson, who often visits her, but when she saw it wasn’t, she tried to close the door. Rosales grabbed her arms and pushed her into the house and raped her. She said he spoke only Spanish and she tried to “play dead,” remaining motionless until he left. Reports say he stole three rings and three necklaces.

The woman stayed in her home for the next several days until she went to a doctor to get her back checked out. She told the doctor, who reported the rape to authorities.

The second attack came at about 2 a.m. Jan. 31. The woman told deputies she’d been watching TV when the same man forced open the sliding glass door, threw her to the ground and raped and beat her. She said he smelled of alcohol and spoke to her in Spanish, but at one point told her in English, “I love you.”

She described his clothes and said he was carrying a bedroll and backpack when he left about five hours later. She was badly beaten and taken to the hospital.

After the first attack was reported, patrols were increased in the Bay Shore Drive neighborhood and deputies went door-to-door asking neighbors if they’d seen anyone they didn’t know. After the second attack, surveillance was added — about 20 deputies waited in her neighborhood.

On Feb. 1, armed with night-vision goggles and video equipment to capture images at night, deputies watched for Rosales. At 11:23 p.m., he was spotted walking across the woman’s yard. He hid behind some bushes and looked around to see if anyone was watching before he went in through a sliding glass door.

Deputies watched him go inside and saw him standing in the living room. They surrounded the house and as two deputies approached, Rosales opened the blinds and stuck his head out. Deputies identified themselves and grabbed him as he struggled. They pulled him through the sliding glass door and onto the ground as he resisted handcuffs. When he was finally subdued, they found he had a cut on his back and he had to be treated by paramedics. continues here

Teenagers who laughed as they raped girl they met on Facebook are jailed for six years

07:59 by Editor · 0 Post a comment on AAWR

Two men who laughed as they raped a girl they met on Facebook have been locked up for six years each.

John-Claude Rugero, 19, of Ilford, and Prince Afriyie, 17, of Chigwell, were found guilty of raping the 17-year-old girl on a roundabout in Colchester, Essex.

The girl, who cannot be named, told jurors how she first chatted to the defendants on social networking sites Facebook and Bebo, two years before she was raped on a roundabout on August 12 last year.

Stephanie Farrimond, prosecuting, told the jury of seven women and five men that the teenage girl was a 'regular user' of social networking sites and used Bebo and Facebook among others.

The teenage girl gave her number to Rugero after meeting him online, Chelmsford Crown Court in Essex heard.

On August 11, 2008, Rugero, 19, contacted the girl to say he would be going to Colchester the next day to see her on her birthday.

The following day, the girl went into the town centre drinking with her sister-in-law, the court was told.

During the evening, she claims the defendants contacted her by phone but she did not arrange to meet with them.

Her sister-in-law went home and shortly afterwards the girl decided to go home herself, the jury heard.

But by chance she bumped into Rugero and his friend, who were with three other men in a car, at a roundabout as she walked home.

The men followed the girl into the underpass of the roundabout and when she tried to walk away they pulled her back into a garden in the middle of the roundabout.

Miss Farrimond said the 17-year-old defendant raped her first while Rugero held her shoulders and then 'immediately after he had finished Rugero took his turn'.

The victim told the court: 'When it was happening, my body closed down, all I could move was my eyes.

'JC didn't speak - all he did was laugh.'

Rugero, of Hainault, east London, and his co-defendant, from Chigwell, east London, each denied one count of rape but where found guilty by a jury at the trial. continues here

Girl, 15, 'raped near Burnley mosque'

16:16 by Editor · 0 Post a comment on AAWR

A 15-year-old girl was raped by a man after he dragged her down a Burnley back street late at night, a jury was told.

The girl, who had earlier been with friends at a youth club, was said to have been walking alone up the slope to Daneshouse Road, speaking to a friend on her mobile, when Muhaamed Ansari, 34, struck next to a mosque, Burnley Crown Court heard.

The hearing was told how the alleged victim, who told police she had had a litre and a half of vodka, was said to have arrived home just after midnight crying and shaking after the incident in February last year.

Ansari was arrested the next day when he pulled up to speak to a police officer who was driving the 15-year-old around the area to see if she could identify her alleged attacker. Ansari, of Allen Street, Burnley, denies rape.

The jury was told Ansari allegedly took the girl’s mobile phone off her, turned it off and gave it her back.

He is said to have raped her on a pathway which ran between the mosque and sheltered housing in Hebrew Road. continues here

Obama half-brother ‘linked to UK sex attack’

16:15 by Editor · 0 Post a comment on AAWR

BARACK OBAMA’s half-brother has been refused entry to Britain after reportedly being accused of an attempted sex attack on a 13-year-old girl on his last visit.

Samson Obama, who runs a mobile phone shop in Nairobi in Kenya, was on his way to the president’s inauguration in January when he tried to stop over in Britain to visit relatives. But he was turned away by immigration officers who declined to issue a visa on the grounds of deception.

Biometric tests carried out at East Midlands airport showed that he was linked to the attack on a girl in Berkshire last November but never charged, according to a report last night. Further checks identified Samson as the half-brother of President Obama, leading to a hurried call to the White House.

A Home Office source told the News of the World: “This was obviously an extremely sensitive issue when it was flashed up by the database.” Officers had noticed that one of the documents that Samson had supplied with his visa application was false which led them to make further inquiries, according to a Home Office spokesman.

Details on the database suggested that he was the same man who had been arrested by police in Berkshire after approaching a group of young girls, including a 13 year-old, and allegedly trying to sexually assault one of them, the News of the World reported.

He then followed the girls into a cafe where he became aggressive and was asked to leave by the owner. Police were called and Samson was arrested. He reportedly gave officers false identification details and supplied his mother’s address in Bracknell. continues here

Romanian who raped a woman so he could 'live in luxury' in a British jail gets his wish

07:54 by Editor · 0 Post a comment on AAWR

A Romanian career criminal who raped a young woman so he could be sent to a 'luxurious' British prison and get free lodgings and English lessons had his wish granted yesterday.

Ali Majlat, who was allowed into this country despite having spent more than half his life in prison, cornered a 21-year- old at a deserted train station and attacked her in a subway.

He had been released from prison in Oxfordshire only two days earlier, travelling to Yorkshire in an unsuccessful attempt to visit his brother Dominic, who was already in jail for rape.

Majlat, 35, had been inspired to carry out his crime after hearing from Dominic about the 'easy and comfortable conditions' in British jails, and yesterday he was ordered to serve an indeterminate sentence at one.

But in a blow to his hopes of enjoying open-ended British hospitality at taxpayers' expense, a judge ordered his deportation back to Romania on his eventual release.

'This was a woman who was deliberately raped so that he could get accommodation in prison,' said Judge Alistair McCallum at Leeds Crown Court.

'It doesn't get much worse than that.'

Branding him 'absolutely worthless to our community', the judge said Majlat could be considered for parole in four-and-a-half years' time but is likely to be imprisoned at huge expense to the taxpayer for many years longer.

Today the Daily Mail can reveal the shocking truth about Majlat's past, raising new questions about the ease with which foreign criminals can enter this country, as well as why he was not deported after his first jail term.

Majlat grew up in one of his home country's notorious Communist-era state orphanages because his illiterate parents could not afford to feed him.

After leaving the institution at the age of 16 he was soon caught stealing, and ended up spending 19 years in Romanian prisons with a total of 11 convictions for theft and burglary.

Last August, with his 45-year-old brother serving a life sentence here for rape and attempted murder, he travelled to Britain to visit him.

Before he had the chance to do so, he was convicted in connection with a burglary in London and jailed for eight weeks.

Despite his record, he was not deported on his release on October 10 because he was not deemed to be 'high risk'.

Instead he travelled to Wakefield, West Yorkshire, two days later to visit his brother, but was turned away because he did not have the right paperwork.

Majlat went straight to Wakefield Kirkgate station where he spotted the young woman, a soldier's girlfriend, on a deserted platform.

After pestering her, saying 'You should love me' in broken English, he began punching
and kicking her. She fled down an underpass, but Majlat caught up with, pinned her to the ground, half-strangled her and raped her.

She later told police the thought that flashed through her mind: 'That's it, I'm 21 and I'm dead.'

However, Majlat released her after taking her mobile phone and money. He travelled to London where he was caught after using the mobile.

He later told a psychologist: 'When I was on the railway station I thought I should rape this lady in order to get a place to eat and sleep and learn the English language.'

Judge McCallum had earlier demanded details of Majlat's criminal record in Romania, asking how he had been allowed into Britain in the first place.

Yesterday officials who had dealt with Majlat in Romania revealed that if they had been asked, they would have classified him ' high risk' and capable of rape.

They were not surprised that he committed crime just to get into a British jail, saying he was completely institutionalised after spending his life in a grim orphanage followed by prison.

'He always felt better in prison, it was the only support system he ever received,' said the chief psychologist at Bircea Mare Prison, where Majlat served most of his time.

The official, who wanted to remain anonymous, said many inmates felt the same way.

'Many of them talk of going to England because they hear stories of how much better it is than here, like hotels for them.

In Majlat's hometown of Petrila, head of social services Susana Heljiu said: 'He was one of five children placed into an orphanage by his mother. It was easier for her to hand them over to the state than provide food and a home herself.'

An acquaintance said: 'His attitude was simple - if he got away with the crime, he benefited. If he got caught, he would go to prison, and that's what he really wanted.'

Yesterday his barrister, Mark McKone, confirmed this had been his motivation but said that he had changed his mind since being beaten up while on remand.

'The last thing he would want Your Honour to think is that he would like to be given as long as possible,' said Mr McKone.

Majlat appeared to smirk in the dock due to what his lawyer said was a medical condition.

His victim has been left seriously traumatised by her ordeal, has difficulty sleeping and is afraid of men and isolated locations.

As with other EU citizens, Romanian nationals need only a passport to enter Britain, so immigration staff may not be given details of any convictions in their home countries. continues here

Sneinton sex attacker was Afghan asylum seeker

21:07 by Editor · 0 Post a comment on AAWR

AN ASYLUM seeker from Afghanistan has admitted he was the sex attacker who brought terror to the streets of Sneinton.

A sudden wave of incidents in December, 2006, sparked police warnings for women to be vigilant and repeated appeals for information.

Police issued a CD-fit of the sex attacker and put up posters appealing to local people to help them catch him.

”He was completely out of control and very violent”

Self-defence classes were held in the area and more than 250 attack alarms were handed out by police.

But yesterday, at Nottingham Crown Court, Nooroz Hameed Khan, formerly of Kimberley Street, Sneinton, admitted he was the sex attacker. He pleaded guilty to three charges of sexual assault on the women.

He first struck at 4pm on Thursday, December 21, 2006, when a 29-year-old Sneinton woman was on her way to meet her sister in Trent Lane. Khan struck up a conversation with her and then groped her.

In Meadow Lane 50 minutes late, a 16-year-old girl was seriously sexually assaulted. She managed to push her attacker off and ran away.

And on Christmas Day he targeted another victim, a 24-year-old woman, in Dale Street. He began talking to her, but she kicked him and escaped.

In an exclusive interview with the Post at the time, the Trent Lane victim said: "He was completely out of control and very violent.

"I am scared to go out on my own, even in daylight. Until he's caught I won't rest.

"I hate the thought of him still out there waiting to attack someone else."

After hearing he had pleaded guilty, she said she was relieved. "I can put this behind me," she said.

Khan had lived in Rotherham since he applied for asylum in January, 2008. He said he had fled the Taliban.

He was arrested in July last year and originally accused of five offences, but prosecutors decided to drop a fourth charge of sexual assault and an allegation of assault causing actual bodily harm.  continues here

Rapist facing deportation is awarded legal aid to fight for the custody of his estranged son, 8

08:09 by Editor · 2 Post a comment on AAWR

A convicted rapist facing deportation has been granted legal aid to fight for custody of his eight-year-old son.

Parmod Arora, 45, is seeking a shared residency order that would allow him to spend time with a son he hardly knows.

To the fury of his former wife, he has been allowed to employ a barrister and solicitors at taxpayers' expense to fight a case he has almost no chance of winning because of the serious nature of his conviction.

Legal aid has been granted despite the fact that the Indian national has had little or no relationship with his son since his birth and is due to be thrown out of the country.

Last night MPs and campaigners said the case was an absurd waste of public money.

Arora's deportation case is being considered by the European Court of Human Rights even though he has already had two appeals rejected in the British courts.

Now, in a separate move, he has been given legal aid to launch a belated claim for joint custody of his son.

Last night his former wife, known only as Claudia to protect her son's identity, expressed disbelief at the decision to award him state assistance.

She believes that the custody battle is merely a ruse to allow him to delay deportation even longer.

'I can't believe he has been given legal aid,' she said. 'My son doesn't want to live with him - he doesn't even have a relationship with him. It's madness.

'He's a convicted criminal. How can he think that he has the right to have my son living with him?

'I think the only reason he wants a residency order is because he thinks it will help him stay in this country.

'He is a very violent man. He is emotionally and physically abusive. I don't want him to harm my son like he did me.'

Born in Jalandhar in India, Arora entered the country illegally in 1984. He was given a 12-month suspended sentence in 1990 for slashing a bus driver's face with a knife after he spoke to his first wife.

That marriage, which produced three children, broke down several years later amid claims that Arora beat her.

He met his second wife, Claudia, when she got a job working at his shop at the age of 17. The couple married two years later in 1998, but Arora soon turned to violence, regularly hitting his wife.

In August 1999 he lured a 15-year-old girl to a shop where he worked in Hounslow, West London, and raped her.

He was arrested in January 2000. Seven months later his wife gave birth to their son whilst Arora was on bail.

In July 2001, Arora was jailed for seven years at Isleworth Crown Court and was due to be deported in 2006 when he was released from jail.

Initially he was held in a detention centre awaiting deportation, but he appealed against the order and the matter was referred to the European Court of Human Rights in 2006.

Arora was released from detention in 2007 and now lives in a three-bedroom house in Hounslow, west London.

He cannot be removed from the country while a legal appeal is outstanding, although experts say it may take a couple of years before the European court hears his case.

In the meantime, the joint custody claim is due to be heard at Isleworth in May.

Claudia, who is divorced from Arora, said the children from his previous marriage were in care when she met him.

She added: 'There was a lot of domestic violence that the children had been subjected to. Even friends say now he comes across as a very nice guy, trustworthy. No one knows his background.

'When he was arrested he claimed he was being investigated for fraud. I was horrified when I found out he had raped that girl.'

It is unclear how much legal aid Arora is receiving. But Claudia, who has also been granted state assistance, says each court appearance in relation to the custody battle costs £4,000 in legal fees.

Tory MP for Shipley, Philip Davies, said: 'I am sure that the hard-pressed taxpayers who contribute to this legal aid fund will be appalled that their money is being spent on this sort of thing.'

Matthew Elliott, of the Taxpayers' Alliance, said: 'This case demonstrates the absurdity of our human rights laws, which give criminals more rights than ordinary people.'

The Legal Services Commission, which runs the legal aid scheme, said the case met their legal merits test and both parents had passed a financial means test.  continues here

14-YEAR-OLD VICTIM ATTACKED BY 19 THUGS RELIVES HER NIGHTMARE

21:49 by Editor · 0 Post a comment on AAWR

IN the shadows of a grimy tower block, the baying mob swarmed all over the sobbing schoolgirl like feral dogs—and savagely stole her childhood.

Again, and again, and again, they took turns to violate her 14-year-old innocence at knifepoint. There were 19 of them.

As she shrunk into a ball pleading for mercy, she was frog-marched round the grim east London estate in a two-hour display of depravity that shook all Britain.

Today, cuddling a pink teddy bear from her toddler years in the police safe house that has become her world, the young gang rape victim tells the terrifying story to the News of the World.

“They punched me, kicked me, smashed my head against the wall, stripped me and slammed me onto my back,” says the girl we are calling Jane to protect her identity. “More gang members were arriving by the minute. They were loud and jeering.

“They asked me if I was a virgin. When I told them I was, they laughed and said I wasn’t going to be one any more.”

And so began the ordeal that would change Jane’s life forever. In BROAD DAYLIGHT, she was dragged around THREE different locations and repeatedly attacked.

At least FIVE passing witnesses turned their faces the other way while the 19 gang-members aged between 13 to 16 fell upon their prey.

Earlier this month nine of the adolescent savages were convicted of kidnapping and raping Jane.

                                                                   Trigger

The spark for their monstrous brutality was a simple schoolgirl remark she made to a pal, telling her she was right to think about ditching her boyfriend.

But that boyfriend was a member of a notorious gang called The Kingshold Boys in Hackney—and when what Jane had said was reported back to him her fate was sealed.

“The ring leader’s girl and I were schoolfriends,” says Jane. “I said I didn’t think he was right for her. But she told him what I’d said.”

Jane shivers with fear in her chair in the safe house she rarely leaves. She has become a virtual prisoner here because of post-traumatic stress disorder. The physical scars have healed but the fear remains.

It is evident in her voice as she relives, in her own words, the chilling nightmare that began in March 2007.

“I bumped into her boyfriend after our chat and he accused me of trying to break up his relationship,” she said. “He went to hit me but a lad with him stopped him. I was very frightened. Soon people were telling me the gang were going to get me.

“The day it happened I was walking home from my cousin’s after school. As I turned the corner, the ring leader was waiting with three friends.

“They pinned me to a fence. Then the leader put me in a headlock and told me I was coming with them.”

Jane was marched into a block of flats on the rundown Parkside estate yards from her home. She was hurled under the stairs and ordered to perform oral sex on all four youths.

“One of the gang pulled out a knife and told me if I didn’t do what they wanted, they would stab me up. They were pushing it into my throat. I was crying and pleading with them. At that point, a lady walked past us in the flats and I made a run for it. But the leader came after me. He struck me hard on the head, put me in a headlock again and started dragging me down the road.”

At that moment she could have been saved the horror that lay ahead at the next location, a small block of flats in Skipworth Road.

“It was so obvious I was in distress,” she says. “I was crying, in a headlock and surrounded by four boys. But on the way we passed a father with two children and another two men. None of them came to help. They just looked the other way.
                                                                       Knife

“I was taken up the stairs of the next block to a first-floor landing. They threw me into a corner and again the sex acts started. They told me they would kill me if I didn’t.

“Then one of them, who had a bike with him, told me to take off my tracksuit bottoms or he’d put me in hospital. I was shaking so hard. I was only just gone 14. Mum had only just started letting me go out close to home on my own. When I wouldn’t take my bottoms off, the ring leader punched me in the eye while the others kicked my legs and lower body.

“Then the bike boy slammed me onto the concrete floor on my back and, as the others held me down, he raped me.

“One of them was trying to video it on his mobile. I was crying because it was hurting so much—but the ring leader just laughed.”

Then came another chance to save her—a woman walked past them into one of the flats.

“They threw a jacket over me and told me to shut up as she went past. Then they said I could go. I pulled my tracksuit bottoms on and ran. But they were playing with me—they ran after me and caught me.”
Battered

Now battered Jane was dragged to a 10-storey tower block on the grim Frampton Estate. She says: “More gang members arrrived. All of them were on their phones calling others up. They were surrounding me, laughing and whooping. They were like a pack of hunting dogs.”

Along came the fourth witness to abandon Jane to her fate.

“We went past a woman and she mouthed to me, ‘Are you all right?’ I shook my head and I know she saw the fear in my eyes. I thought she would get help—but she never did.

“I was taken to the ninth floor of the tower block where I was thrown onto the landing. Another gang member pulled a knife out and I was forced into more sex acts with five others. I was like a zombie.

“In the end, there were 19 there. They were all laughing and encouraging each other, calling me a slag and a ‘headchick’. Some were punching me. I was slammed against the wall six times. There were so many grabbing at me, pulling my clothes off. I’d reached the point of giving up. I really thought I was going to die.

“Then I recognised a boy I’d known for years, I felt relieved. He was a friend. But when I asked him to help me, he looked at me hard and said, ‘No, I’m with my boys now’. I will never forget that.

“Then I was forced into a sex act with him too—and then with others. If I refused they smashed my head against the wall.” continues here

Sex-slave men ruined my life, says girl, 17

08:23 by Editor · 0 Post a comment on AAWR

A 17-year-old victim of two Asian men who ran a sex slavery ring in which they drugged and assaulted young white teenage girls said yesterday that she felt robbed of her innocence and childhood.

Her encounters with Mirza Baig, 35, and Muhammad Ditta, 39, had changed her life for ever, she said after the two men were jailed by Manchester Crown Court.

The girl, who cannot be identified, is now a virtual recluse and feels terrified when approaching an Asian man in the street. “It is not because I am racist or anything like that,” she said. “It simply reminds me of those men – they took away my innocence and my childhood.”

The men sought out vulnerable 15-year-old white girls in inner-city Manchester and groomed them for sex with gifts including credit for mobile phones, alcohol and drugs, the court was told.

They would impress them with their large cars – one had a safe in the boot – and then take the girls to a flat in the Hulme area of the city. The pair sexually assaulted them while they were intoxicated and, on at least one occasion, under threats of death. It is understood that at least three girls were being groomed but police believe that there may have been others who have yet to come forward.

Baig and Ditta, a convicted drug trafficker, were arrested in May last year after an investigation by social workers, detectives and community project workers. The men came under suspicion after officers set up a team to examine the problem posed by young Asian men who were grooming impressionable white teenagers for sex and prostitution, notably across the northern conurbations where there are large Asian populations.

After a 15-day trial, Baig was convicted of sexual assault and making threats to kill. Ditta was convicted of assault. The two were given indeterminate sentences for the protection of the public and told they would not be considered for release before they had served a minimum of three years, and then perhaps “not for many years”.

The jury was told that Baig drove two 15-year-old girls to the flat where they were plied with vodka, cannabis and Ecstasy until they fell unconscious. When one woke later she was punched in the face by Ditta as she fought off his sexual attentions.

Two weeks later another vulnerable 15-year-old was brought to the flat by an older girl. The younger girl heard her demanding £20 in payment and that then they could do what they wanted with her. She was also given alcohol and drugs until she fell unconscious. When she awoke she was naked in a bedroom and Baig demanded sex before threatening that he would get a gun and kill her. Ditta interrupted the assault and took her into his bedroom to assault her himself.

Judge Anthony Gee, QC, told them: “These were despicable and truly shameless offences. Neither of you have displayed the slightest hint of remorse.”

After the hearing the mother of another girl, aged 16, said that she had felt powerless to break her daughter’s fascination for the men, who offered her money and gifts, and drove her around in their cars. “They had nice houses with Jacuzzis in them and that attracted the teenagers,” the mother said. “They would pick her up round the corner and drop her off there too. So I never knew where she really was.  continues here

Murdered teenager Hannah Foster made despairing 999 call after abduction

08:12 by Editor · 0 Post a comment on AAWR

A kidnapped teenage girl dialled 999 in an attempt to escape from her attacker but was cut off by the emergency services. She was then raped and strangled, a jury heard yesterday.

After being bundled into a van, Hannah Foster, 17, an A-level student who wanted to become a doctor, dialled the number in the hope that the operator would hear her conversation with her abductor. But because the operator could not hear what was being said, the system automatically disconnected her.

Hannah’s parents, Trevor, 57, an auditor for British Gas, and Hilary, 51, a former nurse, and her sister, Sarah, 20, were in Winchester Crown Court as Nicholas Haggan, QC, opened the prosecution case in what he said would be a distressing trial.

Mr Haggan said that DNA evidence would help to prove that Maninder Pal Singh Kohli, 40, a sandwich delivery driver, murdered Hannah. “He snatched her from the street. He drove off with her in his van. He found somewhere quiet and he raped her. He then strangled her and dumped her body,” Mr Haggan said. “When he thought he might get caught, he fled to India.”

Mr Haggan said that Hannah disappeared in March 2003 while walking home from a bus stop after a Friday night out with friends.

“At 11pm that evening, Hannah managed to use her mobile phone to contact the emergency services,” he said. “She was unable to speak to the operator. It’s quite obvious from the recording that she was in a moving vehicle. In that vehicle with her was a man, and that man was speaking to her in a heavily accented voice.

“Hannah probably thought that the operator would listen to the conversation and work out that she was being held against her will.”

She would not have known that there was a system to prevent accidentally dialled emergency calls from blocking up the system, he added.

Experts who analysed the recording were able to make out Hannah pretending her name was Sarah and the man saying something like: “Hold your head down, please.”

Hannah’s body was discovered two days later by a 14-year-old boy in Allington Lane, West End, near Southampton. It was lying among brambles about 15ft from the road. A postmortem examination showed that she had been strangled. Although she was fully dressed, her clothing was described as “dishevelled”. She had scratches on her legs, and there were traces of semen.

It is claimed that on the same day Mr Kohli was in tears as he told a friend that he needed to go to India to see his ill mother. The friend noticed a red mark under the man’s eye, which Mr Kohli is said to have claimed he got in a fight with two men. Despite Mr Kohli threatening to kill himself if his friend did not lend him money for the flight, the friend refused, the prosecution said.

The next day, Hannah’s handbag and phone were found at a recycling centre in Southsea, Portsmouth. Mr Kohli flew to India from Heathrow the following day.

A few days later, Mr Kohli’s supervisor, James Dennis, saw a recording of theCrimewatchprogramme that featured an appeal about Hannah’s murder, and contacted police. Mr Kohli’s sandwich delivery van was seized and semen stains and traces of Hannah’s blood were discovered inside, Mr Haggan said.

CCTV and Hannah’s telephone records were said to place the two together at the time of the murder.

Mr Kohli was extradited to Britain in July last year, and a DNA sample from him matched the semen found at the crime scene, Mr Haggan said. continues here
